Goes ahead on turf as planned. Current pen reading is 29, expected with no more rain to be 26 by race time.

Who knows who's been able to work properly and who hasn't? I make Mannequin the best on a tough card.

Magic, that is one aspect that I wish some journalist would identify as a niche and find out the working availability of training tracks at the various establishments.Would be so useful!
(the other day the 4th race threw up a huge PA result and happened to pick up that the fancied horses were all trained at the Vaal! checked back and all Vaal trained horses had run below form in first 3 races as well--saved the day by successfully laying a couple of short priced Vaal horses for rest of meeting but feedback from training centres would help so much.)
C'mon guys,that can't take much doing.

Magic you talk about Pen readings, how acurate do you think these readings are? Do you think it would be advantagous to the punter/owner/trainer if they announced what the stick readings were accross the course? ie far side ,nearside middle? especially at the Vaal and Turffontein where it never seems to stop raining these days?

Good point, hib. It looked visually much softer than the 25 pen reading on Champions day.

I like Trompsburg in the 3rd. Form behind Sports Coupe has thrown up 2 winners from 3 runners.

Will go with Dovers Crossing from Greggo as 8/1 is decent value!

Next best for me is Starwood in the 5th. She should be involved.

Happy punting!

Tommy, AGREE with you Starwood(tu)....

Robs theory about the Vaal trainers worries me a bit cause I also fancy the Woodie trained Flybyme.... Stable ran well on Sunday at Greyville.

Remember Greg a few years ago when certain racing publications whould include, next to the trainers name, where he trained from......That info would really be helpful now so that we could guess which horses have been out of work and which haven't?

Anyway I think most of them would be in the same boat I guess.

Flybyme has a chance imo, but I find that race very open. Maybe a horse like Regla Runner could give the top boys a scare I feel!

Greg that was a few weeks ago but is just an example of what can happen ......don't know if it still applies this week(but may of course) and thats what would be nice to know and shouldn't be difficult to get.In fact we probably have posters with horses in every centre(including private) Perhaps they would be prepared to get the info and post it.It would only need to be posted to report training interruptions so hopefully shouldn't be too often.
