Scotia on Mothers Day weekend

Good morning to you all and hope the punters are looking forward to Mothers Day, make sure you don’t all get motherless on Sunday.

We are going to a function with a few close friends and sure the kids will come to the party with a nice present for Mum.

A few ideas if you have not bought a gift? Have you watched the glomail adds, hilarious stuff, my fav is the fitted blanket for the winter, one for mum, dad and baby, no more cold nights in front of the TV. You can all sit on the couch together with your individual furry straight jackets.

Plus if you buy before Mothers Day, we will throw in a bag of charcoal and stainless steel knifes for the first 100 callers.

I can’t wait to see Mrs S face on Sunday.

As far as sports this weekend.

Horses:

We have Clan Classique (25/1) and Slumdog Oscar (10/1) in the same race on Friday and trying to remain positive a dead-heat would be great for the “match race” and to read more on the big PE weekend ……..NEW TURF CARRIERS – WEEKEND OF THOROUGHBRED HORSERACING

It has been superb having the early July betting and handicap log posted on the site, how to promote and market a race, well done to all involved............2010 July Log

The Drill Hall stakes on Friday night at Greyville should be a cracker.....Drill Hill news and views

Tropical Empire fancied at Greyville

After the 1000/2000 Gns we look forward to the Oaks and Derby with no stars coming to light? Timepiece and Rumouch are 8/1 joint favs for the Oaks and St Nicholas Abbey retains his position at the top of the boards at 7/2 (which might still prove to be a bargain)?

Lingfield Stages the Oaks and Derby trials this weekend ,the oaks trial has thrown up some nice fillies the last few seasons,Midday won the Oaks trial before going on to the Breeders Cup, and Now Look Here won it the year before, before going onto win the 2008 oaks. Lingfield Oaks trial

Over in Ireland Leopardstown host the Group2 Derrinstown Derby trial
a race that has thrown up some of the biggest names in Irish racing the last few years,Yeats ,Fame and Glory
etc etc

Rugby:

Fancy winning REALLY BIG MONEY? ….. I am hoping for an all SA final in Soweto, this weekend should be an ATC with Bulls, Stormers, Brumbies and Warathas

Soccer:

Well the league looks done and dusted or could there be one last twist?

Chelsea 1/10 and Utd 8/1 another ATC should be in order with Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Everton all ending on a winning note.

Others:

Pop Idols where Crystal 9/10 getting a bit opposition from Lee 14/10, AP still sound at 7/1 (get on) Politics who cares? fancy the SNP.

It’s the Afrikaans pub this evening for some intellectual stimulation plus with the rugby should be buzzing! Racing at the bit T on Sat. the Highveld racing Awards are on at Emperors on Sat. evening, was thinking with the Oscars they have a “worst” film catogery , might be a consideration for next year? All the best to the nominees on what should be a great evening.

My biggest problem this weekend might be to drag myself away from my “snugget” (with special pockets for the Sporting Post, dstv handset, laptop and JWB ).

Last but not least my weekend treble, sorry the Hony site was down due to cable theft this will be a couple of ATC's within a treble
Rugby (Bulls/Stormers/Brumbies) Soccer (Chelsea/Utd/Arsenal/Everton) and Robert The Bruce to win on Sunday at Arlington. What do you have “Joffers my boy”?

So to all you Mothers out there have a great weekend.

Good punting!
