Scotia on the "Investec" Derby/Oaks weekend
15 years 2 weeks ago
Good morning to the Clan hope you are all well and your having fun leading up to the World Cup?
I have the couch in place and SA flags on the wing mirrors go Bafana!
Still a week to go and the highlights this weekend will be the at Greyville on Sat. where Galileo's Galaxy should have no problem getting back to winning ways.
The Woolavington looks very open and hope for a good run from Spiced Gold from the Pettigrew stable and the connections.
Daily News 2000 should be a great race with Noordhoek Flyer getting plenty opposition from Irish Flame and Bold Silvano.
Longsdale Stirrup where I fancy Mirage Drive
Noordhoek Flyer
At Fairview where we hope for good runs from Soul Searcher and Slumdog Oscar to keep Mitch on a roll.
The big ones from overseas are the "Investec" Oaks and Derby from Epsom, however the Coronation Cup of Friday could be the best race where Fame and Glory clashes with Sariska, note that the Jooste/Kantor South Easter is also in the line up.
The Oaks is an open affair Aviate, Rumoush and Timepiece can fight it out and Jan Vermeer tops the Derby boards at 2/1 with the scratching of St Nicholas Abbey. Don't forget the Epsom Dash for the real flying machines, as they say in Scotland Hawkeyethenoo on what should be another spectacular display of top racing, we hope for the same TV coverage as last year?
Fame and Glory
Will do an Ascot update next week, however the highlights are sure to be on opening day 15th June, the Queen Anne Stakes: 2/1 Paco, 22/10 Goldi and 5/2 Rip in addition Canford Cliffs at 13/10 for the St James Palace. The Gold Cup is on Thursday the 17th.
Only a week away for the World Cup opening game and if you don't have tickets plenty great venues in Joburg and Pretoria to watch the game and take your bets, more to follow on the site over the next week.
I am sure you are aware you, can place any bet imaginable the bookies are not sure who to make favs in the opening game but Mexico have the slight edge, but basically you can find 18/10 the pair and 22/10 the draw, but if you want a bet on the game and your heart is ruling the brain would suggest the "Draw no Bet" option. Have a punt on SA at evens and if they draw you get your money back, but check the small print, if they get beat you lose your money. Whatever you do have a punt!
ABC will soon be linking up with topodds to give you the best prices on offer for your selections.
Still having a few problems with the leg/knee but should make it through the World Cup its a pity I could not make the final squad.
Now Idols are over we focus on Britain got Talent and Spellbound look hard to beat as the Scottish Granny from last week fades we now have a dancing dog..Chandi the Dancing Dog
Have another horse in the pipeline for "The Clan" will keep you posted.
Treble for the weekend is Galileo's Galaxy, Noordhoek Flyer and Fame and Glory in addition an ew treble on Mirage Drive, Hawkeyethenoo and Slumdog Oscar.
Good punting and may your God be with you.

I like Aviate for the Oaks but the Dettori mount Sarhjjah.....something or the other could be the only danger as it is unexposed and could be anything.
I'll be with Cecil for the weekend double and Fame and Glory in the Coronation
