15 years 2 months ago
DATE: Thursday 10 June
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited
Phumelela Gold Enterprises (PGE) has concluded a five-year contract with Satellite Information Services (SIS) for the delivery of South African horseracing pictures and data to betting shops in the UK and Ireland.
The exclusive contract will run from June 2011 and renews a strong relationship between South African horseracing and SIS that originated some 20 years ago.
South African horseracing will form the nucleus of the lunchtime slot in the SIS FACTS service with races from this country’s 10 racecourses being televised.
Philip Siers, SIS LBO divisional Managing Director, said: “We have always worked well with our counterparts at Phumelela and I am delighted that SIS will be adding these prime fixtures to the FACTS service, offering SIS further continuity in its live programming. These additional fixtures allow us to offer horse racing at peak times in the betting shop day, whilst giving additional winter coverage. I am very confident that the Phumelela-SIS relationship will be further strengthened in the near future as we explore and leverage the synergy's between us.”
Phumelela’s Group CEO Rian du Plessis said “We are excited to renew our relationship with SIS to distribute South African horseracing pictures into the UK and Irish betting shops. The UK was the first export market for SA racing and we look forward to continue to increase the popularity of the product with SIS. We would also like to extend our thanks to Amrac and TurfTv, which have distributed SA racing on our behalf over the last two years and will continue to do so until May 2011, for their support in the promotion of SA horseracing in the UK .”
