Talking about music I just had a difficult (lol ) decision to make : The July or the High Voltage Festival in London's Victoria Park on 24/25 July. I decided to pass on the Durban B Division Handicap and rather go and check out the show :
The festival has three separate stages : Main, Hammer ( metal for the uneducated ) and Prog ( progressive ). The turnout is mouth watering and is rather like 10 former July winners all competing in a veterans race.
Main ( Sat ) : ZZ Top, Foreigner, Gary Moore, The Answer, The Union.
Metal (Sat ) : Black Label Society, Saxon, Cathedral, Hamerfall, Orange Goblin, Black Spiders, New Device.
Prog ( Sat) : Transatlantic, Asia, Big Elf, Focus, Pendragon, Touchstone.
Main (Sun ) : Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Ian Hunter ( Mott The Hopple ), Joe Bonamassa, Bachman & Turner ( I guess the 'Overdrive' part died!).
Metal(Sun) : Down, Opeth, Clutch, High On Fire, Audrey Horne, Lethargy
Prog (Sun) : Marillion, , Magnum, Steve Hackett, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash. ( Saw the last two in SA recently and Wishbone Ash were particularly good ).
Just the presence of Emerson, Lake and Palmer had me calling the travel agent as they are definitely on my bucket list.
Also a possibility/probability that Heaven and Hell will appear ( that's Sabbath when they perform minus Ozzie ) although they have to enagae a new singer as Ronnie James Deo ( who stands in for Ozzie ) died of cancer at the end of May.

Now you are talking Garrick a good thread for us veterans, last time I watched ELP was late 60s early 70s Usher Hall, Edinburgh.
If not mistaken the band was "Nice" at that time?
Here is a treat for our younger visitors Gary Moore live was always special
