Harbor Street, Knock And Announce, Esterel all look the part to me. I like Cosmic Dream as well, but I think China Rose could be a lurker in that race coming back to a shorter trip.

VAAL (TURF) 1 JULY 2010

RACE 1:Maiden Juvenile Plate (F) 1000m Straight

EVERSOEASY ran on strongly last time when just failing to catch Kahal's Fantasy over this C & D. Should improve even further today. AQUATIC CLUB ran into traffic problems last time and may show up better today. She still managed a good third that day. SHEE'S GONE WEST made such a good debut last time despite losing two lengths at the start. Must go close on that run. MADAM MADONNA has clearly improved and the improvement may continue. SUPERFLIGHT can improve on a moderate debut.

SELECTION: 1st:- EVERSOEASY * (6); 2nd:- AQUATIC CLUB (1); 3rd:- SHEE'S GONE WEST (12)

RACE 2:Maiden Plate 1700m Bend

AFRICAN GIANT set a strong pace last time before fading late. He should be a better proposition this distance. HARBOR STREET made a decent debut last time. Faded late over shorter but could be better suited to this distance. CALANISH is never far behind. tries this far for the first time and it may suit. CAMINA DAY may improve on an improved latest effort when staying on. Watch the betting on the first timer U-TURN.

SELECTION: 1st:- AFRICAN GIANT ** (1); 2nd:- HARBOR STREET (10); 3rd:- CALANISH (2)

RACE 3:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1200m Straight

KNOCK AND ANNOUNCE made a very good debut last time over 1160m. She really caught they eye that day and should be hard to beat. PRISMATIC FIRE is becoming quite expensive to follow. She just has a tendency to fade at the wrong time. She has placed this C & D and must not be written off. WILD SWAN may just be ready to do something. RUBIES FOR ROYALTY made a fair debut and was running on late. Can earn today. HIGH BLUE SKY has not really had that bad a run in three and should not be ignored in trifectas and quartets.

SELECTION: 1st:- KNOCK AND ANNOUNCE ** (13); 2nd:- PRISMATIC FIRE (1); 3rd:- WILD SWAN (4)

RACE 4:Allowance Plate 1000m Straight

ESTEREL has won this C & D and has won only over the distance. Normally runs on well. MANNEQUIN is holding form well. She loves this distance and all but one of her four wins were at this track. She races handy and has a very good chance today. VAREUSE faded over 1200m last time. Has only won over 1000m. One of his two victories was this C & D. Don't ignore. KESHA ran on to win last time. She had to try hard for that win. She is well suited to this C & D with two from three starts. MISS TURBULENCE is never too far back and is holding form well. An apprentice claim of 4kg will ease the set 60kg she would have had to shoulder.

SELECTION: 1st:- ESTEREL ** (4); 2nd:- MANNEQUIN (1); 3rd:- VAREUSE (7)

RACE 5:MR 76 Hcp (F & M) 1400m Straight

Not a strong field. COSMIC DREAM must have a chance on an improved latest effort when running on at this track over 1200m. The extra should suit this daughter of Silvano. Don't ignore the chances of IMOGEN who will be finding her best work late. Has kept her form since her third win four runs back. FIELD GATE has been racing against stronger and should be respected this league. PALERMO ROSA (Sean Tarry/Piere Strydom) runs well at this track. Respect with Piere Strydom riding. There is not much else that catches the eye but this could be an upset leg of the exotics. TIME TO LAUGH has fair form. SIGNET RING is inconsistent.

SELECTION: 1st:- COSMIC DREAM * (3); 2nd:- IMOGEN (11); 3rd:- FIELD GATE (1)

RACE 6:MR 89 Hcp 1800m Bend

Two sons of Silvano look set to fight this one out. LATIN STRIPE (Sean Tarry/Piere Strydom) has run his best races over this distance. His last two runs have been very good and he has found extra late. His half-brother CAPTAIN BUTLER is also in good form and is more consistent. Not in his favour though is the fact that he has yet to show at this track. Respect HONOUR IN GOLD (Mike De Kock/Johnny Geroudis) who tries this distance for the first time. Can improve. NATIONAL REGENT won his last two but this is far tougher. HAPPY LANDING also rises in class and should battle this class despite running very well in his post maiden run.

SELECTION: 1st:- LATIN STRIPE * (6); 2nd:- CAPTAIN BUTLER (4); 3rd:- HONOUR IN GOLD (3)

RACE 7:MR 74 Hcp 1800m Bend

RADIANT ROCK may be battling for that elusive second win but he does make appeal in this MR 74 handicap. ZEBULON is beginning to show some welcome form return and can cAUS

e a minor upset. RAMBLING BOY won his second victory after quite a few attempts. Can repeat. KEY MAJOR (Geoff Woodruff) was fair in his post maiden. May be ready to show further improvement. REFLECTOR (Sean Tarry) showed big improvement last time and may be worth following for places.

SELECTION: 1st:- RADIANT ROCK ** (2); 2nd:- ZEBULON (9); 3rd:- RAMBLING BOY (12)

RACE 8:Maiden Plate (F & M) 1800m Bend

SPICE CLUB has good maiden form but is battling for her maiden win. This is her seventeenth run as a maiden but is holding form well. HOT TIP was an unlucky loser last time. Can make amends today if running on again. SEA PASSAGE is improving again and pick up her maiden soon. VIVID is also on the up but still required more to win a race. DOVER CROSSING has moderate form but can be involved at the finish.

SELECTION: 1st:- SPICE CLUB ** (1); 2nd:- HOT TIP (8); 3rd:- SEA PASSAGE (7)
