Why should I post my numbers and share the prize? here is a better idea
Irish Lottery Sweepstake race could be repeated
SUNDAY'S National Lottery Sweepstake Race could yet be a permanent fixture on the Irish racing calendar.
Tickets costing €20 went on sale in April and on June 20 a draw at NationalLottery headquarters in Dublin revealed the 200 prize-winners. The top 25, who were guaranteed between €10,000 and €1million, were allocated a horse each in the 6½f dash and enjoyed a VIP weekend at the Curragh, staying at the five star K Club Hotel and Country.
Invincible Ash made all to make Sligo's Trevor Cawley a new millionaire and the National Lottery consider a repeat in 2011.
"We sold just under half of the 200,000 tickets we offered," said spokeswoman Paula McEvoy. "We introduce novelty games like this all the time and will review all the elements before deciding whether to do it, or something similar again, but the Curragh and K Club looked after everybody brilliantly and Sunday was a fantastic day."
The €50,000 first prize, won by ticket 031 742, bought in Day's Bazaar, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, has yet to be claimed.
The initiative, inspired by the Irish Sweeps Derby of the 1960s, boosted the prize money for Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby day's premier sprinthandicap to €100,000 from €70,000.
Camelot, who run the National Lottery in Britain have no plans for a similar game.
However a spokesman said: "If a racecourse puts forward a proposal to ourmarketing department we would certainly give it our full attention."
