The unbeaten Honeysuckle maintained her perfect record in the Grade 1 Hatton's Grace Hurdle with a stunning nine-length victory over Bacardys at Fairyhouse for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore, landing odds of 9-10.

Ten-time Grade 1 heroine Apple's Jade, bidding to bounce back after a below-par display on her return in the Lismullen Hurdle to try earn an unprecedented fourth straight triumph in the contest, was noted struggling as the race began to unfold and finished a well-beaten third.

De Bromhead, blown away by how emphatically Honeysuckle put the race to bed, said: "That was fantastic and I'm absolutely delighted to get our first win in the race. What a way to do it. She was brilliant.

"On ratings she was pretty up against it, especially against Apple's Jade, and to do what she did was incredible. I'm delighted for connections and it's brilliant for Kenny Alexander [owner]."

The magnificent winner was shortened to 6-4 favourite for the OLBG Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival with Paddy Power, who also cut the five-year-old to 8-1 (from 33) for the Unibet Champion Hurdle, with that market blown wide open following Buveur D'Air's potential season-ending injury on Saturday.

Dual Champion Hurdle winner Buveur D'Air looks set to miss the rest of the season due to the freak injury he suffered at Newcastle, according to trainer Nicky Henderson.

He underwent surgery on Sunday after returning with a splinter of wood in his foot following his defeat at 2-13 in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle on Saturday.

Henderson said on Sunday: "It is very serious and I hope it's not career-threatening but we won't know for a week or two. However, it seems certain we may have to give the rest of this season a miss.

"It's like having a large splinter under your nail and the only way you are going to get it out is to go in and operate on it. The only good thing about all of this is that the injury has not touched the horse's coffin bone, which is just above the hoof."

The King George on boxing day .
Time to make the call and it now has to be
CYRNAME to lead all the way and is now generally 2/1.
After the stunning performance in the match race the highest rated jump horse looks very hard to beat .

Good Punting

FOOTPAD is the interesting runner on Thursday,
What
