Had a crap day on Tuesday. My 3 bets couldn't run a drum, on top of which I lost 50.00 to a mate who bet me Fortune wouldn't pitch for his only booking on Cinnamon Sugar. Apart from the fact that most jocks I would think, would appreciate an opportunity to ride this horse, this oke alledgedly didn't even bother to contact either the trainer or the owners about the no-show. They got the news via racing services on Tuesday morning, who asked who their replacement rider was going to be as they had been informed by Fortune that he would not be there because ' it wasn't worth it for one ride. What shit is that ? How unprofessional. My mate said Fortune wouldn't get out of bed for one ride, and that's just how it looks to me.

Another 'god given talent' going to waste.
I'm a firm believer in law. There has to be rules and regulations, with subsequent punishments when theres misconduct.
I'm sure the stripes are at wits end with his record.
How does the rules apply in horse racing? After suspension,is previous history considered in new suspensions?
Wonder what AF 's rebuttals are like in Stripes Boardroom.Doubt it can compare to a live one from GP over a decade ago.The Stripe that lodged the objection kept grinning, and this top jock said he will walk over and wipe that grin off his face! ....objection was over ruled!

Former champion jockey Fortune banned
FORMER champion Andrew Fortune has been suspended for a month for "failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race".
He will miss the Cape Guineas on Saturday week but will be back for the Queen's Plate on January 8.
The National Horseracing Authority inquiry board imposed the original penalty, ruling that he had lost third place on 9-2 chance African Love in a maiden at Turffontein on September 4 by dropping his hands three strides before the line. They also fined him R30,000 (£2,760/€3,260).
The sentence was deferred while Fortune appealed but a month later he was fined R20,000 (£1,840) for a similar offence at Durbanville. On Tuesday the NHA appeal board ruled that the ban should stand and run from December 7. They reduced the fine to R20,000.
Fortune, who has picked up several suspensions in the past two years, has decided to give up his job as stable jockey to Gary Alexander in Johannesburg and move back to Cape Town.
This follows an injury to stable star Pierre Jourdan in the Summer Cup 11 days ago.
Alexander said on Wednesday: "Pierre Jourdan injured his off-hind. We have treated him but, if that is not successful - and we will know after three or four months, we might have to operate.
"The J & B Met [January 29] is obviously out of the question but the Durban July might be considered if he is sound enough.
"Andrew wants to spend more time with his kids and, once the big horse was sidelined, there was no reason for him to stay in Jo'burg."

Taking Pier Jordan from Derick David to Fortune was a very unfair and bad decision.Coincidentally PJ has not achieved anything of note since....I hope someone can explain why was PJ taken from Derick Davids to Fortune.

pj got beaten twice with fortune up and both times were when he ran in handicaps for the first and 2nd time in his career...he was also found to be lame in the summer cup and as per the alexanders something wasnt right with him in his last 2 runs...NO BLAME CAN BE PUT ON FORTUNE..for my 3 cents worth pj should be aimed at races where the weights favour him or until his merit rating drops so he can be competitive in hcaps...races like the queens plate claiirwood challenge in june spring to mind

SPEED HORSE (Desert Fox - Gain by Truly Vain), trained by Tommy Noordin, finished fourth to DOUBLE DARE.
At the Selangor Turf Club today, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of SPEED HORSE. Evidence was taken from De Souza and Noordin. Trainer Aditiyan Selvaratnam assisted in this inquiry.
De Souza, the rider of SPEED HORSE, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that:
1. Approaching the 200m to about the 100m mark, he failed to ride his mount with sufficient vigour to the satisfaction of the Stewards; and
2. From about the 100m until passing the 50m mark, he sat quietly on his mount for a number of strides whilst his mount was running on.
When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the facts of this case, De Souza’s points of mitigation and his record. De Souza was suspended from riding in races for a period of four months with immediate effect from today and to April 4, both days inclusive. He was also fined the sum of RM50,000 and advised of his right of appeal.
De Souza subsequently exercised his right of appeal against the sentence and penalty, and applied for a stay of sentence.
The Stewards heard the application for a stay of sentence today and evidence was taken from De Souza.
After taking all the evidence into consideration, De Souza’s application for a stay of sentence was not granted. He was advised of his right of appeal against the Stipendiary Stewards’ decision not to grant him a stay of sentence.

KUALA LUMPUR: Nov 27, 2010
Apprentice Lim Yeok Seng, who was suspended one month last Sunday for careless riding on TIENJIN CONNECTION, has been suspended a further two months for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
At the Selangor Turf Club today, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the running and handling of WON’T STOP who finished second to MONEY TRAP in a Restricted Maiden - 1100m sprint in Ipoh last Sunday.

Apprentice Ruzaini Sopien's promising career in the saddle has taken a huge knock after he was disqualified three years following a positive urine test.
Urine sample taken from the lad, who sits second in the apprentice table in Singapore with 15 winners and third in Malaysia (16 wins), on Oct 1 in Singapore revealed the presence of Methamphetamine.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the submissions from Ruzaini and Cook, his record and the nature of the prohibited substance. Ruzaini was disqualified for a period of three years with immediate effect from yesterday to Nov 17, 2013 both dates inclusive and he was advised of his right of appeal.

Send the NHA on a visit to see that regulation is about ensuring "the horse is given every chance".It is not necessarily about skullduggery. It appears they punish any ride that does not qualify,in their opinion.

Typical spindoctor response.....ever thought of getting into politics
I don't think it is about the 250K lost, but rather that horseracing is open to manipulation, to suit personal financial gain using public money......just like the government in power does
By the way do you pay tax, as an honest citizen of this country?.
At least the man has the balls, to voice his view, and frankly I don't think he is making this up.
It is people who are aware of these kind of things happening, and not making it known who will be to the detriment of this country.
Quite a legacy to leave behind for future generations, and I am quite sure you will also have future generations, who will still be living in this country when the "house built on cards" collapses, amd maybe then you will think about the glue that held those cards together.
