Imo Engagement is still a good few pounds under-rated.

Sherbrooke is speedy and could love the sand, looks the pick of the day to me. Secret Life can repeat his last win even though put up five pounds in the merit rating, but Eragon and Saint Stephen are both threats. Engagement won her last race more easily than the margin suggests and would be my P6 banker. Soul Patrol only faded late in a slightly higher class last time on the sand and can also go close today.

unless i was watching a different race how engagement got a 3 pound penalty only and prismatic fire a 2 pound penalty for 2nd is beyond me...we will find out today if the handicaper was correct in his asessment of the last time they met

Smallish fields but still competitve imo; Paintyourface needs to find a few lengths on Funwayo, but is improving with racing and has the draw so could be the right one at some rather generous odds imo; South Star seems well in here with Starstruck probably the main danger; watch out for Seraph back on the sand and although Engagement won with a lot in hand last time, I am a bit concerned that she might prefer more ground, so Subtle Beauty who should be 'cherry ripe' could give her a run and I think the Laird coupling is a must for the JP and P6.

Interesting how we assess races differently:
On their last run Engagement and Pris. Fire correctly equally rated but if Pris. Fire is used as a line horse?then Crown Princess is an 83 (17/08/10 ) running off 69 and should be a blinder???
Am I miscalculating?

rob, imo the problem with this race is the inconsistent performance Prismatic Fire - I think it may be wise to ignore the run where she finished so far behind Crown Princess - her other two recent runs much better?

Also Wild Swan beat Engagement 5 lengths (admittedly it was Engagement's debut and also over 1000) and is receiving 4 kg's from Engagement today - just enough there to make me include the Laird coupling.
