Secretariat - The movie
14 years 7 months ago
I took my family to go watch the Disney Movie tonight. Unfortunately I don't think it was as good as Seabiscuit. There is very little suspense as you know what the outcomes of all the races will be, and there is very little emotion from the jockey side.
Having said that just imagining what it must have been like winning the Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths.......that must have been a feeling which all involved with that horse will never, ever forget!
If you love horses as much as I do it is worth a watch!

Morning Tommy dont normally go to movies but the first time I met my wife took her to see a horse named Nijinsky and when Lester Piggott started talking she asked where are the sub titles.
I have some great horse dvds, Mill Reef and all the greatest flat and jump races of all time, Dessie etc
Great stuff!

I have a great collection of cart races from Redcliff and Jagersro, I'm hoping to make a fortune marketing them as a cure for insomnia.(

Seriously, however flawed, I am looking forward to the Secretariat movie. He helped me fall in love with this game and as far as I am concerned he is still (and likely will always be) DE MAN!X(

It will have to be Phar Lap
Even some 70 years after his death, Phar Lap remains an enduring symbol of the Australian turf. A winner of 37 of his 51 starts, he started favorite in three successive Melbourne Cups, the only horse in the long history of Australia’s most famous race accorded that distinction.
In a unique feat in 1930, he won a race on each of the four days of the 1930 Flemington spring carnival, including the Melbourne Cup with 15 lb. (6.8 kg.) more than weight-for-age.
