Let's hope that Kunar makes a difference and does not just becomes a "yes-man"

@eastexpo:
I am not so optimistic about your hoping going on the track records of those 'blacks' (espcially Indians and Africans) who have beeon co-opted into the system (I am not using the race card except for underlining a perception, if not the truth).
There have been a number of whites who have been openly critical of the inherent racism in the industry and readily exposed the insipid, behind the scenes goings on (corruption, nepotism, asset stripping, nepotism.... a monotonous litany!). They have come under cosniderable flack from certain quarters (such as Boris Bonniface!)
In comnparison, where are the blacks (over all these years) to utter even one word of disapproval in public (except for the likes of Hassan Adams now, so unlike Peter Naidoo who made such statements in private)?
I strongly feel that Peter Naidoo & Larry Wainstein owe South Africa an explanation / apology with their statements before the Parliamentary Monitoring Group-
'Trilogy racing was a ....in an effort to introduce Black African owners to the sport of horse.'!!!!!
The Trilogy obviously (by connotation and composition of the syndicate) refers to Indians Black Africans and whites; THIS IS DOWNRIGHT RACIST, CONDESCENDING AND DISCRIMINATORY TO OTHER 'BLACKS', SUCH AS COLOUREDS / KHOISAN!
Do we endorse this sort of animosity promoting shit?
Are we (Coloureds/Khoisan) not wanted within the industry.... or, even South Africa? An Indian and elitist white, both promoting 'apartheid' style, overt racism? No Indian speaks for me (especially his type); I would rather have a white (Afrikaner) who are mostly blunt and honest!
You will also note; since I posted the excerpt from the PGM, NOBODY has commented on the thread as yet.... though grossly misleading and bullshitting that the presentation is, even to the uninitiated?
What does that mean? There is not a single member of the RA on this forum? If there is, s/he gives a damn; not for the report, but for my having posted it?
If I have to post all the duplicity and racist decisions of the NHA (with the likes of Dr Konar and Sello Rasethaba on its boards), everyone will cry out.... RACISM (no place for it on this forum)!
Yet, the silence on this forum on rabidly pertinent issues is....RACIST!
To those of your likes, I say, let's not give up.... let's put some colour in at the end of the rainbow for humanism, tolerance and mutual respect to flourish!
I am sorry, but I am (and many others are) being pissed off this SPORT... that's exactly what it used to be; no more!

PE racing has always been the forgotten centre in terms of progressive development. We have 2 racing centres which are in a very poor state, now for the first time they are thinking by making 1 fantastic centre with a polytrack which will make PE racing more attractive.

@Jerry:
Calll your Provincial politicians and remind them of the agreement; 3% split on bookie's commission, subject to TWO RACE TRACKS ALWAYS!
One race track, less revenue for Province!
And brief them on the representation to the PMG, or, give them a print out!
That should sort it out pronto!

Has the RA gone underground? No more answers?
Another question or two -
How about sectional timing? Does the RA support this?
Will the RA put pressure on the NHRA to publish horse weights?
Barrier trials? Does the RA support this?

The RA supports all 3 concepts and has investigated the implementation thereof. The reason none are in place at the moment is because of the lack of resources in the current economic climate. When the industry is in a position to dedicate the necessary resources to ensure that they can be implemented at the required standards, the RA will push for them to be introduced.

With all due respect, I can't believe that 'the economic climate' is a valid reason; in the case of barrier trails, for example, why can't these be combined with the current 'starting stall certification' - just make the horses 'going through the stalls' gallop for 800m and record the result?
Has any studies been done to estimate the costs involved?

yes Frodo, about 10 years ago and it was shelved then already, and it remains shelved with the same reason. No money for it. It was morning Barrier Trials and they were held in Cape Town. I think there was also a test run for trials on a race day before the races started but I can't remember why those were canned - I think the reason was that the extra footage on the track wasn't good.
Perhaps the RA should be asking what the cost has been of not having time trials - as these go a long way in building trust in the punter's mind. Punting revenue is lost on maidens and first timers/long layoffs as they are blind spots with no form. If a time trial could show some performance ability and induce punting on such races the cost could be justified - this is an exercise perhaps that the RA can do to test the feasibility.

Surely scales cannot be a major cost factor - owners/punters should know the weight of their runners
A previous question that has not been answered - If it has I have not read the answer and apologise
Does the RA support the formation of a NATIONAL PUNTERS ASSOCIATION?

A quick google search found horse scales for about R21 000 - not very dear I think in the scheme of things - two needed per track maybe ? or am I being too simplistic? Simple to have weights passed on to desemination?
