JUST HOW GOOD IS THIS HORSE ???

Impressive is a mild description, but I certainly think we have a new champion in the making. ROYAL ZULU WARRIOR simply destroyed that field today. Winning a maiden by 10 lenghts is good, but a second run by a dozen is something special........

Wonder where to from here for him................... How far will he go.....

Super impressive, especially doing it twice from two starts.
I suppose it's worth bearing in mind that he is already a 4 year old and was getting weight from some of the 3 year olds, not that it would have made any difference.

His merit rating was way too low and it will be interesting to see where it goes to now, but he did give them a rare old galloping lesson!X(

Had my doubts seeing Mr Lips was unsure. I pray i get to learn half his knowledge in my lifetime, and that is no joke.

and hopefully when ken rutherford takes over teletrack mr lips becomes a regular contributor on uso not just for natal meetings but for the other provinces as well...its time that the punter was given the best professional advice on any given card and not some of the muck that has been served up lately by certain people who havent got a clue ...

2cents is correct - one of the new amendments made to the handicapping protocols on April 10, 2010, was

The maximum penalty applicable to any handicap on either surface shall not be higher than 8 merit rated points. This Rule excludes all Graded and Listed races and horses carrying over-weight and weighted under sufferance.

Yes, the eight pound rule is another slap in the face for true handicapping, because next time he runs his opposition will have no chance (at least on paper), which is exactly contrary to what handicapping should be all about. I love merit ratings, but I think we in SA have completely lost our way with the restrictions, caps, etc. that we have imposed. It's like taking a dinner from a three Michelin star restaurant and then sloshing tomato sauce all over it.

Completely ridiculous rule. Yet another reason to scrap this centuries old farce called handicaps, but nooooo...running on an equal footing is just too bizarre to contemplate.

that horse is special and was glad I was at the track to see it run and hear everyone clapping it home a bit like Divine Act?
