I would assume that the criteria for establishing the tote favourite is the following:
Win dividend on the tote first and foremost. If the tote dividend is the same do they?
1) Look at the place dividend and see which is lower? or
2) Look at the bookmaker favourite and decide that way?
Do you guys know the official ruling?

I didnt want to comment on Power Flow's ride because I would have done so from my pocket ,seeing I am not alone if this ride is not investigated by the stipes I dont know from the 400 the horse had every chance he was not given any chance by MJ he was standing on the horse and never rode the horse out it is not a shocking ride it was plain a crooked ride(in cricket we would say "well stopped MJ")

u stand to correction but i think it is the horse that has the most amount of wins on who ends up being tote fav...very difficult to believe that 2 horses can have the same ampont of wins on

Pirates, in race 8 both Parade Prince and Super Trouper paid R3-50 a win, but Parade Prince paid R1-40 a place and the other one paid R1-60 a place.
In my experience then Parade Prince should be the Tote fav?
Thats why I asked the question.

yes i hear you but im sure its the total amount of wins which makes a tote favourite ...so if 2 horses paying the same then if horse A GOT 3000 WINS ON IT AND HORSE B GOT 2999 THEN HORSE A IS DEEMED TO BE TOTE FAVOURITE

1.27. TOTE FAVOURITE: Is the individual horse on which the most number of win units has been taken. Should two or more horses have exactly the same number of units wagered on them, Joint Favourites shall be declared.

Actually, if I recall Power Flow was hanging quite badly and gave MJ a hard time also when he got beat a short head the time before. The horse looks a bit like what the English like to call a monkey, and either blinkers and/or gelding could loom large on the horizon. It's the horse that appears to be not trying.
Anyway, he'll probably be someone else's problem soon enough as he's on the Beck reduction sale.

Jeez, WotY REALLY struggled at this track - guess I will need to keep my day job next year:S
Mountbatten ran on really well from the back of the field - should go close next time over 1400+

I wasn't on the site and I only had 2 horses in my Jpot in Power Flow's race and I also thought my pocket was affecting my opinion which was that the jockey looked like he had a double handful throughout the race but went past the post the same way....like the finish was 300m away.
I would like to see the head-on as well though !
My opinion is probably also affected by MJ's comments pre-race.

Yes, the 65% deduction did piss me off Al. But I got 5,25/1 after the deduction. Rather take the 5,25/1 winner, than 15/1 second place if the fav ran and beat it.
