Vaal - Thursday
14 years 4 months ago
Here is my summary of the racing tomorrow at the Vaal;
Race 1: Babies, no thank you (courtesy of Greg$$$)
Race 2: 1 Horse race imo. they cannot beat Success Counts, unless not fit or something silly
Race 3: Hard start to the PA. Jannu the obvious one, but coming back from a break. don't exclude Royal Double (all the best Orange). He was a super impressive horse in the canter past on debut and there was some money for him. From a family that has thrown some very decent sprinters especially for Eugene Cox. PA numbers: 1,8,10.......keep an eye on the 12. If supported in the ante post he should be included.
Race 4: For me even harder than race 3: horses to consider: 1,4,5,11,13. I like Sateen to improve at a decent price. She ran behind Bling Dancer on debut and wasn't too far back. Velvet Jar should be the 1 to beat if she stays.
Race 5: Should be a straight shoot out between the top weighted horses. I prefer Snowdon with Seal the danger. Not sure how much work the Laird runners have had so I'm going to pass Western Front by.
Race 6: Another tough race, but I think Casey's Guest could be good value at 14/1? Add in as many as you can for PA's and P6's
Race 7: I think Drum Master with Felix up is one of the better bets on the card. I believe his rating is on the low side and that he is a decent 3 year old. Also think the Aracati form is strong enough to see him win this.
Race 8: I need help here....put the field in!!!
Race 9: Belfast Belter should be the one to beat, but I have my reservations. I fancy Legend of Zelda to run a big race with blinkers for the first time! Also more open than just that. PA numbers: 2,8,11,14
This is my bet for the day:
Royal Double (place)
Sateen (place)
Snowdon
Drum Master
Legend of Zelda (place)
I'll probably take a lucky 15 or whatever the hell it's called
Happy punting!

I remember Sports Coach was also very short after scratchings last year, could have been around 1/14 but stand to be corrected.

Link Man 1/16? I know of some people who "stole" money that day, they took the 14/10 and 12/10 Link Man after finding out that Sports Coach was scratched.

yes 1/8 is a bit short even for scotia 1/5 Interbet, will see where it ends up?
a few hotties today at Southwell, might end up with an ATC with 5 or 6 horses

In that field even 1/10 is a fair price imo for Success
