I actually thought that this race was it for her. It was a hell of a race and I thought that I would go out on an objection. Only had a R20 on her but had her in 2 trebles

Past Master x Cocoa Beach x Cree Lodge was paying R20 / R28,000
Past Master x Cocoa Beach x Hawks Eye was Payiong close to R20 / R40,000

We all know the result

I got the quartet on the Met and and Wins so made a few grand on a small stake so I am not complaining about missing the bigger money.

She seems to do well on Met Day I had her in a treble two years ago which paid well.

I am setting a goal to be at the Met next year. I need to see how the Met compares with the July. TV cannot do these events justice.

You seemed to get a good run from your runners - All the best for 2011 with them

Maybe it was just the footage on TV but there seemed to be little interest in racing.

1. On July day the parade ring is packed all day, Met looked a bit thin most of the time
2. On July day the crowd roars when the let them loose. Met did not hear the roar.

Perhaps its just the way the tracks and mic's are setup. But the roar of the crowd definitely comes through on TV on July Day

In reply...

1.A conscious decision was made to only let owners/connections in to the parade ring for the big race....so maybe it looked a bit thin. Its a small parade ring and there was an accident waiting to happen if a horse was to kick out etc...with all due respect the parade ring is for someone with a connection to a runner in the Met....in years gone by it was like all and sundry found their way into the ring....18 horses and over 300/400 people in the ring just doesnt add up?

2.There was half a roar....the sound system wasnt great on the day though!

They are 2 totally different events.....much more 'user friendly' at the Met as all the action is on both sides of the finish line whereas the July has crowds standing on one side and tent town on the other.....so i reckon start planning now for next year to come and judge for yourself?

hotline the big advantage with actually viewing racing as compared to kenilworth is that at greyville you are much much closer to the horses in fact at greyville you dont even need a pair of binos...at kenilworth the action is way to far away

Queens Plate, Met and July are fantastic, best 3 racing events by a mile in the country .... Nothing in Gauteng touches them:X
