Another bookie joke

I've been watching Silent Nights closely on Interbet. She was quoted at 22/10 with substantial bids on her at 28/10 and 3/1. Somehow they see fit to push her out to 5/2 and suprise suprise she is claimed.

Seems as if anything goes when it suits one's own back pocket (or book)...

Tote returns R2.50 for a generous 15/10.
New slogan coming soon "bet with us for consistency .... lose when you lose and lose when you win!"

(Funnily enough the tote has actually provided good value against SP so far today....but obviously better prices were often available)

I don't know what point you are making. They knocked the horse out and we got a better price. We should be grateful.

P.s the bookies don't decide the odds, the oddsmakers at the Natal Bookmakers Society do.

Kabz so why did the NBS drift Silent Nights out when there was pressure on her?

I don't think the oddsmakers know what they are doing at the best of times. I'm certainly not complaining that we got a good deal for once.

Its poor practise.

Some bookie/s was/were 'in trouble' with SN. They pushed her out and claimed her with less risk. She had no right to drift as there were significant bids waiting to be matched. And that nonsense of the the tote odds being considerably less doesn't come into play as the claim happened before the 4th race had even run.

Oh and not only is there less risk involved, they also making sure their "mates" are getting on on their behalf (before the actual claim comes through), at the stretch of course ;)

They were in trouble with Silent Nights because you tipped it. You should know that anything you guys tip carries money.

I agree, they shouldn't have drifted her out, but for the shrewdies who were fast enough to get on, good luck.

I don't think they were manipulating the market, it was just ignorance on their part.

Numerous adjustments were made due to the betting percentages on offer so perhaps i was barking up the wrong tree.

Kabz sometimes I watch Interbet (when I have no work to do) I sometimes feel sorry for Bookmakers not like they care for us punters but sometimes you have to feel for them.there was huge pressure on SN but she drifted,i think it was due to the fact that she was sweating up BUT never the less there had been many times when there was pressure on horses and it didnt shorten and naturally I phoned up my Boookie and backed it.He used to get furious, why should I care if someone cant do their job properly.
