new place rule

There's a large advert on the racing page of the Cape Times this morning "NEW PLACE RULE from 1 March".
It doesn't say what's new, but does list the rules for places. It seems the cut-off for 4 places is 16 runners now.

I hadn't seen or heard about the change in rule.
No press release or anything.
That means nothing, of course. I could have just missed it.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Its in all the totes.

Hollywood went one better and pay out for 4th place if more than 14 runners carded

Effective from Tuesday, 1st March 2011 there will be a rule change to the place pool : A place pool may be offered on races with six or seven runners, where dividends will be paid in respect of the horses placed first and second. This will not include the International venues where the host tote rules apply.

It doesn't really solve my problem.
Which is 'how do the racing operators communicate?'

Zesto says "it's in all the Totes".
Is that it then? We need to go to the Tote to find out?

I run a racing newspaper.
I knew nothing about this.

Karel, I found this on tabgold.co.za I use that site everyday. It's actually useful and you can subscribe to their lailing list where all sorts of news is mailed to you

Wagga,Karel`s point is we should be getting told these things so we can publish the facts in print or online,and not having to rely on third hand info..

4th/14 runners FIXED place,irrespective of scratched runners! Well done there Hollywood.

i think Wagga's correct = 2 place payouts in Tote for 6/ 7 runners.

This is still not good enough.last week in Dubai results there were 3 place payouts for 6 runners!

Time has arrived for new rules regarding horses scratched at start.
