Top ride by Lance Pagel. Just showed us how to unbalance a horse. Thankfully I don't include him in any bets.

Challenging card at Turffies tonight; not made any earlier by softish conditions and the possibility of more showers during the meeting; thoughts:
R1: Both Retempo and Zambucca were unfancied on debut, but both ran well and both should prefer the longer trip; quite a few first timers have attracted money, so not an easy start to the PA
R2: Verbatim all the rage and should be a PA banker at least in a shallow field; but there has to be some stamina doubts, so it could be a wise move to include Beloved Jean and City of Angels in the P6
R3: Very competitve maiden plate for fillies; High Lake has run well this trip under lights and should feature; the draw may play a role here and perhaps Georgian who is drawn towards the inside and has Felix in the irons, or Jolly Jet should be included in the PA as a backup to High Lake who is drawn on the outside fence
R4: Maiden plate for the boys; same comments apply as in the previous race in terms of the draw; Wyatt West is yet to finish unplaced and looks good for the PA together with King of Quality
R5: Fillies handicap where most seem to hold some sort of chance; will be interesting to see how the visitors from KZN fare here; not much between them on form and I think they should be closer to one another in the betting
R6: Rapid Flow bang in form, the danger imo is Duncton Quest who is much better on the stand side track; my hunch is that the extra 250 metres may prove just a tad too far for Magic Penny and Gunner Girl, while Floating Feather is facing stronger here imo
R7: Tough close to a tough card; Dream Street has been heavily penalised for an easy last win and also has not run in soft conditions before, chances to all of Ilha Grande, Red Delicious, Himalayan Hill (if they see out the 2000) and Au Fond, while Dover Crossing is great value at 25/1 imo - yes she is drawn wide, but she runs on from behind and is not badly in here.
Play well

For me Beaches makes his debut in a handicap. I would be very weary of him in this spot.
Askari loves this C&D and he also comes from decent form lines.
