The Mercury Sprint - Jockey B Fayd'herbe suspended

The Stipendiary Stewards Reported
At approximately the 150 metre mark AUGUST RUSH (B Fayd'herbe) shifted out resulting in CAPTAIN'S SECRET (A Domeyer) having to be checked off the heels of this gelding and thereafter EXCLAIM'N'EXCLUDE (AUS) (A Marcus) having to be steadied off the heels of AUGUST RUSH (B Fayd'herbe). Thereafter AUGUST RUSH (B Fayd'herbe) continued to shift out resulting in RUSHING WIND (A Delpech) becoming cramped for galloping room and having to be eased shortly before the finish.
Jockey B Fayd'herbe was suspended for ten days for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of AUGUST RUSH he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to runners on his outside in the closing stages

The distance of 1,5 lengths separated the first 6 horses past the finish post.

Fayd'herbe is suspended for 10 days. However, he receives approximately 50K in stake money from winning the race. If I am a jock I would do the same as Fayd'herbe because the rewards are far greater than the punishment.

I am sure the owners/trainers of these horses that were impeded are furious with the stipes.

There is no credibilty in SA racing. If this type of interference occured in the UK the results would have been different.

I must say that i thought is was Marcus fault but the stipes have more camera angles...AR is the luckiest G1 winner this year...if R Wind not impeded he wins easily...i suppose thats racing...pity this crap keeps happening in G1's.

I thought he deserves more...Grade 1 race and he made sure Delpetch had zero chance of winning at all..at least the stipes acted..well done but should be 3 months out..

Please meet the magnificent six
Stipendiary Stewards on duty:
Messrs F S Parker (Chairman), N P Daniels, D M Anderson, S N Arendse, R Jeewanlall & T O Nhlapho

IMO these stipes are unethical. They have tarnished the reputation of horse racing by not taking the appropriate action, August Rush should have been demoted.
The magnificent 6 stipes should be ashamed of themselves.

If the stipes followed the rules and the rules states that the interference does not warrant August Rush from being demoted, then their rules are in shambles.
IMO the rules need to be amended and made stricter to cater for this type of infringment or interference to other horses. There were other horses that could of won the race if they were not obstructed or inconvenience by August Rush.

if this type of incidents happened on the island(mauritius),these transgressions would be severely punished.upto to 6 months...no income
for the transgresor....its pathetic...what our jocks are allowed to get away with.
east expo replied ...who cares..money in the bank....u r missing the point....in this game there are swings and round abouts...(i didnt have a bet in the race)..so its just a matter of time before your horse that u punted gets done in......and then what would your comment be.
in the interest of fair results and safety....i think these jocks should stop riding like cowboys and follow the rules...and if not followed...the penalties should be stricter and harsher...
i think , the longer it remains unresolved..the more the jocks are pushing the limits...and it gonna get to a point where an injury is on the cards.
