@hibs:
That's what happens when you are dishonest and steal other people's ideas to suit your own agenda!
When Graeme Hawkins was at the RA, he took my document on the formation of syndicates to bring in punters (with emphasis on blacks) as owners. He called me for clarification.... then launched the 'Achiever Syndicate' as his own baby!
I am not peeved because of being disregarded (they don't like Indians/Khoisans yet I am paler than most of them!), but that it was doctored to exclude those for whom it was planned........ the ordinary punters!
What the heck! Who cares any longer?
Moan, groan, bitch.... or get out!

What a joke!...the worst possible result..put on a day to bring youngsters and new owners into the game and wham!..it actually shows them how they could have blown their money.
I asked at the time why they didnt raffle a tried horse instead of one that still had to go into training..Get it right guys or you will never get new owners

I agree that this could have been handled better.
However, for the sake of argument, using an unraced horse (and I believe the first one was totally useless / injured / retired before it got to race and it was 'swopped' for another one) does show new owners that nothing is for granted in this game.
Ideally I think you need to get the target market right (and that's not easy to do) - we need owners who take the good with the bad - and who knows, there may be some in the syndicate who were genuinely bitten by the bug - and they will be back despite the disappointment (if the syndicate has indeed been dissolved)
Elvis and myself met when joining a syndicate that Graeme Hawkins set up 10 years ago - it was called the 'First Look' syndicate - and despite our first filly placing in one of the juvenile features and our second purchase winning a race, I think from the original 10 (or so) members, it is only Elvis and myself still involved as owners - you can't force people to become owners - they need to want to do it and to keep on doing it despite the setbacks that is part of this game

The powers to be stated what an success the last Achievers Day was.... Can they tell me how they gauge ''the success'' in there marketing strategy...??
Please give me a break these ONCE OF DAYS are a waste of time and money imo, you need to be constantly marketing racing to get any sort of result imo...

Fully agree with Greg.Parties at the races don't promote racing any more than rock concerts at Ellis park promote Rugby!

from what I was told was that my contact phoned the authorities to query something. He was told " oh don't you know that the syndicate has been dissolved - didn't you get the e.mail or s.m.s. ? his answer - NO I GOT NOTHING AT ALL !!!
So he received nothing officially in writing - only a verbal conversation stating the facts. Scotia. did your son receive any notification ? ask him.
If the powers that be failed to carry out this latest communique then God alone knows how this operation still exists, & operates.
what about the horse.................. where is the horse ??? still in training ??

Ever so typical, swept under the carpet like so many of racing's ill conceived ideas .You can bet the scapegoat has already been nominated as he does not work there anymore.
