Poll - the worth/ point of having an On-Course presenter on track...

13 years 6 months ago
#177343
on anything other than feature days and for night racing..

Would appreciate if you guys could answer the following questions..

1 : Do punters actually listen to them?

2: Is it more important to get the opinions of trainers/ jockeys - in particular, around races 1 and 2, looking ahead?

3: Is it more important to simply see the horses go to the start and punters form their own opinion on its gait/ sweating up/ striding out etc?

4: Do the punters take cognisance of PA/ P6/ Jackpot selections from the on-course presenters?

5: Are the post-race interviews important with the owners? Do these interviews provide any important information other than a boost to the owner's ego?

6: Which on-course presenters are rated above all others?

5) Have the inverview but only show them with the evening replays not live.

1.No (most outlets have the volume off on the tv sets so its no use)

2.Yes(if the oncourse presenter remembers to ask after he asked about the trainers/jocks golf handicap)

3.Yes(when tellycrap realise we dnt want to see that shit from ngong and turkey and showcase the local product)

4.No

5.Yes(they pay a lot,give them 2 minutes of fame)

6.Dave Mollet by a far is the best

I wish they would publish the presenters ''tipping records'' for the month, will make interesting reading me think....

2cents is good and Neil Pretorius CAN pick out a winner in the parade ring/ canter down....

1) I do listen but make my own choice at the end of the day

2) Yes.......must ask what they fancy and how the track is running, we know they can be poor tipsters but its good to hear the wellbeing of the horses.

3) I like to watch parade ring and canter past but like to hear what eg Neil P says about the coat/sweating and general condition

4) No, again I play my own, but very seldom play exotics

5) Yes its always great to look back at your horse winning, but the dvd could be sent to owner, does not have to be shown on the replays. Plus if Potala Palace wins we might have to delay the running of the Summer Cup.........lol

6) I like Molly and in house Shaheen

1 : Do punters actually listen to them?
YES BUT I THINK TOO MUCH TIME IS WASTED DISCUSSING EVERY HORSES LAST 7 RUNS THEN THEY ALL HAVE A CHANCE. I THINK UK HAVE THE RIGHT APPROACH. EVALUATE SAY TOP 4 OR SO AND A LURKER / PLUNGE HORSE. REST IS UP TO THE PERSONS FANCY. WOULD SAVE ALOT OF TIME AND GET TO THE POINT IMO

2: Is it more important to get the opinions of trainers/ jockeys - in particular, around races 1 and 2, looking ahead?
A DEFINITE YES BUT MUST BE AIRED LIVE NOT ON THE REPLAYS AS BOOKIES NOT TAKING MY BETS LOL DONT KNOW WHY? OTHERWISE NO POINT OF ASKING THE QUESTIONS TO THE JOCK - MAY AS WELL ASK HIM WHAT HE HAD FOR DINNER

3: Is it more important to simply see the horses go to the start and punters form their own opinion on its gait/ sweating up/ striding out etc? OBVIOUSLY SHORT COMMENTARY AS IN UK IS GOOD POINT 1 HELPFUL

4: Do the punters take cognisance of PA/ P6/ Jackpot selections from the on-course presenters?
NO POINT IMO AS WHY WOULD I WANT TO CATCH A PA / P6 WITH THE WHOLE WORLD ? WASTE OF TIME IMO PEOPLE WANT TO SELECT THESE ON THEIR OWN

5: Are the post-race interviews important with the owners? Do these interviews provide any important information other than a boost to the owner's ego? GOOD FOR RACING IMO

6: Which on-course presenters are rated above all others?
SAHEEN SHAW CLASSIC IN MY OPINION AWESOME SENSE OF HUMOUR AND GETS TO THE POINT AND ADVICE EXCELLENT. DAVE MOLLET ALSO TOPS AND NEIL EVALUATES THEM WELL- MOST ARE GOOD. I WOULD JUST SAY ALTHOUGH JIMMY'S KNOWLEDGE ON BREEDING ETC IS GOOD SURELY A PRESENTER NEEDS TO DO JUST THAT PRESENT EG LADY THAT WAS OVER HERE FROM UK INT JOCKS DAY WOW THAT WAS AMAZING I WASNT NODDING OFF. JIMMY IS EXCELLENT FOR INSOMNIA IVE BEEN SLEEPING WAY BETTER. SURELY A MONOTONE BORING VOICE IS NOT THE AIM OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING. HOW IS THIS GONNA ATTRACT PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO THE CHANNEL? COME ON GUYS ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

PeeKay - all i can say is dont assume because its just won a maiden that it can win! cause it can and will win. Ambo is on standby for the Azzman and Potala. The draw will beat Potala
