Well done, congrats to St John. Even Mike Bass after winning with What A Winter heaped praise on St John in his interview saying Dancewiththedevil will be able to hold her own anywhere in the world.

there is no doubt in my mind that pound for pound st john gray is the best trainer in this country..he trains horses that are bred by himself 95 percent of the time by sarge announce and jam alley all stallions he trained himself and sent to his own band of mares..he is regularly in the top ten or 20 trainers on stakes earned in the country from these horses and he wins 3 group ones with a filly by modus vivendi of all sires...can u imagine if he had access to the offspring of the top sires and overseas stock?...surely its time that he gets recognized for his amazing achievements by the people that do the equus awards

well done Mr Gray,
Is n't it amazing when a stable is in form how nearly all the horses performs well.
has been following the Gray stable over the last few months and did well, even got 20/1 on DWTD on Sat, that was my first choice from the beginning..

Yeah congratulations to My Gray on his achievements with an "unfashionable" sire, Modus Vivendi.
I have a story to relate, which might not be relevant to the topic, but I thought I would say it anyway.
Long before the name Dancewiththedevil became known to the racing public, this horse was mentioned to us by a fellow ABC member, Muhtiman. This was at a gathering of friends and acquaintances at Clairwood race course (Magi was also present).
For those who do not know by now, Muhtiman has a wealth of knowledge with regards to bloodlines etc.
We were discussing the best possible mating for a particular dam (can not remember the name now), and he had suggested a few sires. Of those mentioned, he said that Modus Vivideni was the best suited. We obviously disputed that because Modus Vivendi had not thrown out anything of note at the time. His response was that in his opinion, the best suited bloodlines (dams) were not used.
He made particular mention of Dancetothedevil that was a perfect blood match and was in the care of Mr Gray.
His words were:- WATCH WHEN THIS HORSE MADE IT'S DEBUT. IT WILL SET THE TRACKS ALIGHT.
How true, Rob .

Thanks for that East at least some people listen and learn, however even though I eyed DWTD from her first run and touted her
to be something special....I completely ignored her in the Summer Cup.... as the racing pundits(eggspurts) spoke a hole through my head....good horses win big races...and she blew me out of my P6...:S...I too congratulate Mr Gray as he paid the highest amount
he could squeeze out of his tight pocket for the dam....a real reward on his investment....
