why do you punt?
13 years 5 months ago
Odd question i know,
I used to punt till i dropped then realised im not going to get rich or make any kind of profit punting horses
Would be nice to know why ppl choose to have a bet,is it a way out making the grocery bucks,or making the bond payment,or is having a bet make a punter feel involved in a race, etc
Im guessing most posters bar the voyeurs on this site dnt need to punt to pay the bills,so why risk money
I just like watching racing and appreciate the horse after some very painful punting lessons

I love to punt,im no pro and tbh i dont give a shit if i lose,it`s my leisure dollar,i dont smoke and hardly drink and still get a great buzz from punting.
I used to be disciplined but i dont care now,my style of gambling is a full toss/all or nothing.
I tip horses e/w on the site because i believe that i have a care of duty to the clan..lol but i never bet e/w..
The bigger the price the more i have on
-D
ps following my rules is very dangerous, remember always bet cash/debit never borrow or lend to a gambler

Here is an honest answer.
Although my wife and I have a small business which she had started as a hobby, but it has now ended up a full time business. That is our daily bread and butter.
Punting is my OWN business and treated like a business on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. We have freehold cars and freehold house and we are both lucky to go overseas every year. ( each of us at least 4 times a year).
At one time , I used to spend about 6k on KZN meetings, 3K on Gauteng and about 2k on Cape meetings.
I am not scared to have a punt. If we have info, we can lay up to a 50k bet. There are 4 associates on ABC that do that and we are not scared to have a punt.
I take a PA everyday but do not necessarily have a punt everyday, only if we hear something.
NB: There are bigger punters than me on this forum (I know that for a fact), BUT they would not even respond to this thread.

I am totally debt-free and earn in one day from my business what I spend in a month on gambling . I only play the horses.
When I started as a kid, it was to make money. Today, when I realise that you can either make big money, or, lose bigger, I get the greater thrill that my selection/s come in!
Even if not, I enjoy the trip!
The lack of consistent control, accountability, see-saw dividends, transparent feedback/comment (except what we get on this forum from our die-hard clan members), pettiness of individuals, etc., stops me from ever owning a horse or getting into a partnership again!

I think it was East who had a winning shot of 8000/2000 recently.
Could recall many great bets by the Clan.
Above all is it possible to punt for a living as in having a budget to follow?
If so whats the secret of success?

You have to be patient and not bet every race.
My best punting is march to may,UK maidens.
I punt SA for value and to listen to Dumpy...
