i dont think it was a case of lying but very poor that they could send emails stating that they were unaware of any imminent changes for SA players?

The thing that I find strange that,in line with what we have contended, the gambling review commission determined that the tote and betting exchanges could be categorized together under "person to person" gambling, why on earth Saftote don't apply for a licence to bolt on a" fixed price "tote (AKA betting exchange)
It would surely be granted bearing in mind the recomendation that exchanges be regulated rather than banned, in SA
Would it not also be sweet revenge for the open bet saga.
It just seems such a logical move, but I must be missing something!

Pity we couldnt all use Interbet to lay horses, maybe we should apply for an umbrella bookie license where all maybe say "premium members" would fall under that license?

I'm not sure that the helpdesk was kept in the loop here.I think this was on a need to know basis and the helpdesk wasn't part of that circle.

Hibs,You are on the right track .........the Insurance industry has company licences that operate only as cells within its licence and rents them out for a fee and royalty.A similar model may well work for a bookmaker licence but it would involve a large capital outlay and fairly sophisticated software so you would need to know that exchanges are not just around the corner, cos that would make it a dead duck.

Poor service delivery if that's the case considering that mugs like me take their word as official as opposed to a limited info not so helpful desk...but I have now withdrawn my funds thanx for the heads up..

Bob,surely you have to send an E-Mail to Robert Denby(Betfair Helpdesk) along the following lines:

"Dear Robert,Further to my previous communication, you will have hopefully now been advised of Betfair's decision to become unavailable to SA residents.Should you ever need further information about the activities of your company ,can I invite you to log in to that "little known forum" that goes by the name of africanbettingclan.com........................lol

Nice one Rob, would also mentioned that when he was on the phone last year? I was given a tour of the facilities by his bosses with the intention of having the SA forum link coming via ABC on approval of license......
