Confused....Calling all trainers

Why would a trainer put a top jockey like Delpech on a horse they felt had no chance? I've just watched race 4 at Greyville now, and in the pre race comments, Laff said Gavin Van Zyl said his first timer "showed little at home." But he's got Delpech on it. Why book a top jock for a ride with little chance?

To get some reliable and intelligent feedback?

(We'll forget about Delpech's opinion of Lord London, which he won't live down if he lives to be 200.>:D

"Best 3yo in the country" after winning some mickey mouse out of season race on him at Scottsville. (I think).

I don't think he ever won another race, became a total nutter, and tried to kill Muzi Yeni twice in less than a month. Now thankfully retired.>:D<

Here's one for the conspiracy theorists...

If you have a well bred horse that has little ability. Book a top jock on it for it's debut run. The general public will think it has a chance especially with a top jock on board and good breeding and might back it. It will start as one of the favourites. Now get a friend or family member who has a betfair account and lay bet the horse all day long on your behalf. Watch it run last. Money for jam.

I only put top jockeys on horses I think have a chance of winning or at least in the 1st 3. Might not run there but I would have felt that they had a chance. I know it annoys most top jockeys to be put on mediocre horses unless they are stable jockey to that trainer. Both Anton and Anthony down here know that I will not ask or put them on unless the horse fits my earlier comments about the 1st three.I think that is why I manage to get them quite often to say yes to the ride.

Lucky,I'll give you a far better conspiracy.......When Celsea were leading Man.U. 3-0 you could lay them for millions @ very short odds ...............and all it took was 2 penalties to turn it all to gold!

Far fetched?.......they have jailed a guy who ran a Company called Football4U for matchfixing. This company also arranged all the pre world cup friendlies for Bafana Bafana, and they won the lot as underdogs. There is now strong evidence they were fixed...........the one by a late penalty!!!!!!!!
FIFA have a huge problem with "unusual betting patterns"

Does a top jockey really need to race a horse to get some reliable feedback, surely doing some work riding will also do this.

Here is another theory.

Nominate and get accepted with a kak jock aboard.
Take all the 16/1 you want.
Change the jock with a top notch one in the morning of the race.
The horse shits in.

East, that trick was used a few times and what caused the rule about jocks being replaced only with jocks of similar ability.
Been relaxed a bit lately I think.

Some jocks aren't kak, they just don't get oppurtunities like the "top jocks"..they always get donkeys to ride..
