I am prepared to say that the explanations so far are so out of kilter with normal human nature and behaviour that I believe they are bad guesses or lies.
That is unacceptable and only an INDEPENDANT forensic audit will prevent the situation from eventually crippling win/place betting on the tote.
What amazes me is that the people who rely on tote turnovers to survive ultimately(owners and trainers don't seem to give a hoot.................I just use bookies and probably exchanges in the future)
I still believe that the take-out model leaves inadequate value and will not survive in the long term, regardless of other strange patterns.

In theory,co-mingling should be a benefit to the punter unless co-mingling a)allows cheating or b) increased take-outs are paid to incentivise the participation.
We have never had an answer to the second allegation and is my best guess.

I think that the evidence over here is enough to make me cancell my TAB account.
The best way to route out corruption is through the media.
We should all get together & for one day no-one bets on S.A. races, but to make it work we need mass action.
If that doesn't work then we wait for a feature race (e.g. J&B met or Durban July) then no-one goes to the race or bets on it.
Once they see the loss they have incurred, they will do something about it.

Warren I agree but you will battle to get the masses to join they want to win money (or try to) and wont ghive up a days punting forit ant the TAB knows that as they have the monopoly they can do what they want , have you ever read or heard that some body has been held responsible for botch ups or mistakes? they just don't care, for instances in RTB tab the Aircons has been out of order for two weeks , they have actually posted the customer care number against the walls for people to phone NO REACTION, they just keep on passing the buck, waiting for the next person to sort out the problem.
this is the culture no responsibilities and a lack of knowledge and no will to the right thing or learn the product..

That explains why they are trying to block all the oversees bookies because anyone with brains won't open an account with a S.A. bookie.
They are cutting their own throats at the end of the day.
The oversees punters won' stand for something like this.

Warren you have as much chance of getting the country's crack addidcts to boycott ther dealers until they reduce prices., Gamblers are addicts which is the reason Phumelela can do what they like - The problem is that though there are masses of drug/alchoholics the amount of Horse racing addicts is on a steady decline - The spin merchants will try their best to spin you a yarn that racing is on the up but that lie cannot last forever -

Warren I disagree totally mate, I have been punting with Sepel at Bruma for over 20 years and get great service, and fantastic prices.
I can phone anytime day or night and get a bet on, and unlike some Bookies, when I win, they congratulate me and don't throw the money at me [well practically] So I am more than happy with my SA Bookie:)-D
