Reality Check
Kzn was hit by hurricane Irina.I'm sure most of you saw pics.
Besides even if racing does go ahead, jocks have the final say.
cloudy and windy at moment.

Just got sms now. Pen reading 38 at the moment. Racing doubtful but another inspection at midday.

Craig, thank you for your inputs and efforts in keeping us posted. As you rightly said, you do not have to do it, but I for one really appreciate it. Thank you once again.

Craig, what do you estimate the reading would have to reduce to to make racing possible?
I am told that the conditions are not sunny and/or windy so not much drying at the moment.

RF on what I have heard they would have abandoned already but are trying to give it every chance possible to dry as GC does not want to loose the meeting. If there is a chance that it could be ok they are planning to gallop a few horses, The problem is the consistancy of the turf. Some places the pen is over 40 and some around 35 or so which is not good.

If they are so keen to save the meeting why not have it as a day meeting on Sunday, then? It's a Durbanville stand alone (unless you count Zim) and I can't imagine that that will do the coffers any big favours. And please don't tell me that Cape Town and KZN can't race on the same day because it's done fairly often.
Just a thought.

Two night meetings in a row would be interesting, unless then they moved the Friday card over to Sunday, as per my previous post. That Durbanville standalone on Sunday doesn't look too financially sound to my untrained eye, anyway.
There's also Saturday night, which would overlap with part of the Super Saturday card at Meydan. That might be the answer. Move today to tomorrow, and Friday to Saturday, and keep them as night meetings.

If we do have racing from KZN in the future can we just highlight the venue eg "Greyville" and leave the date open?
Sorry guys, all the best to trainers, owners and jocks with runners in these difficult times.
