Idea for battling Jocks... allowance claim
13 years 5 months ago
Got tweeted this lastnight...
@SAFBETTINGCLAN I'd like to see a thread about handicapping the lower rated battling jockeys with an allowance claim (like the appies). They'd get more rides and ability is levelled out with a claim. They'd lose the claim as appies do with success and it would certainly bring back desire and zest for the game. I'd rather back Devoy - 4kg v Striker, than them on level terms. Trainers no doubt would support this and the battlers would have to get to fit riding low weights to get rides. It's never going to be approved by the power that is but it is innovative and deserves a floor for debate.

always been my view that jocks at bottom of the pile are not as bad as everyone thinks.if given same mounts as top jocks im sure they will bring them home too.i do disagree with the weight suggestion tho, as it will just confuse the punter further who is already struggling to find winners.

He gets the shit horses cos he's bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had plenty chances to shine.
There are many jocks who have got a second chance due to retirements, injuries emigration etc and some have used them well..........hats off to them!
It is, however,a bit like cutting off the top of a Xmas tree..........the lower branches are nearer the top.........but not any further off the ground!
Lets not turn the whole country into a cripple care centre........physically and mentally.
The Govt. is already working hard at that.........Home Affairs etc.
Keep this kind of discussion for April 1.

Good idea maybe limit to certain races or certain meetings. Definite idea that Jockey association should take up.

it won't happen as the big spenders in racing would lose their edge and their return on investment would be compromised .
