"Top" Jocks!

If a jockey accepts a ride knowing the horse has a bad draw, then declines the ride a day before the race because " it doesn't have a winning chance" is this allowed?

This happened to us today...on the spur of the moment having to find a replacement jock for tomorrows meeting!I think this kind of attitude is bad for racing and leaves owners with a sour taste in our mouths!

morning horatio

name and shame this act of cowardness like they do on drivelikeachop :D

doesn't the jockey know that it's rides like that that builds his/her CV.

look on the upside now you know his mentality and can imagine that you never would've got a honest ride on that specific horse.

Haratio NO jock can use the excuse that he feels the horse has no chance ..once he has confirmed to ride the horse, he would need special permission from the stipes and or a medical officer to get off...having said that I hear the course had another 24mm of rain and if that is the case we probably wont race

if this jockey couldn't find the means of getting off this horse offically.then how much of an honest ride can horatio expect?if his intentions are clear that he/she doesn't show any interest in the specific ride.

100% correct CJ but what baffles me is that he/she takes the ride then chooses to sit in the jock room with NO chance of winning the race or earning at least his/her riding fee, it goes without saying that H will never even consider using him/her again and this would prob be the case with his trainer as well, so no matter how good the jock perceives himself to be it is very unprofessional to use the reason he did and should be held accountable for his actions.

I see the name of the topic is "Top" Jocks...Maybe he thinks because he is a top jock, he must only have rides with chances...

i agree with you (tu)

i hope the jockey gets this message and goes to think where he/she started.who along the way assisted him/her and realise that racing is not all about him/her

Hi guys,

The reason I say "Top" jock is because this jockey is in contention for championship again this year. In my opionion a "Top" jock does not portray a attitude like this.

I willl not mention any names on this forum because it is not my intention to bring the jockey into disrepute!

However if u need to know I can give you my horses name and u can have a look for youself?
