For a minute, Craig. lol. If you forget for a minute what a struggle it is, then everything you say is pretty reasonable. You bought a horse from me once, and a horse I owned ran with you too. You are a reasonable man.

The post I changed was that I was going to tell Flash Harry he is the definition of a bigot, but thought that it would be water of a bigot's back and decided to not call him a bigot.

Mr H - you just have this problem in your head about someone being pushed to a higher price on a horse. You just cannot grasp the fact that those who know what they are doing are HAPPY to pay the price at which the horse was valued by them and that they WILL NOT pay more. This is not a trip to Disneyland, FFS!

And I am STILL waiting for Mr H and Muhti to show us all exactly how paddles and other useless time wasting regulations will prevent someone being handled. It will prevent NOTHING of the sort ! All you need is two bidders....... Either with enough money to back their judgement, their "eye of the beholder " decision or with the necessary ego....or one of each of these bidders on the same lot and the price will be escalated. Or ONE of those......?

What really does fascinate me about this thread is the fact that we are debating with those who DO currently buy horses and also with those who DO NOT currently buy any horses.

And I find that those active, current buyers of horses make a lot of sense. And I like Craig Eudey's idea on reserves. My only reservation would be when it goes the other way and a Breeder, who has been watching the Sale closely, sitting behind the Auctioneer, lets a horse go at LOWER than the published reserve, rather taking what the market offers him than take the horse home.

Because THEN we will have ANOTHER thread opened with complaints about those who were "waiting " for the reserve price, to start bidding, thinking that the horse was not for sale yet etc. Long Stories! And invariably, our conspiracy theorists will then conclude that the Breeder was in on the act for a host of fraudulant reasons, eg " undercover buyback " etc.

And I have no doubt that Flash Harry will start that thread....

Oh, I forgot - they can take their paddle and stick it there where it belongs. Sorry, no paddle for me. I will identify myself at fall of hammer, as always.......or I will get a shill bidder and step in and sign for the horse after fall of hammer. Back to square one, hey Eiensteins?

.....Louis I'm not the one that is pushing for any sort of changes as I know the ins and outs at the TBA....just making some of the unaware....aware about the practice of certain people chase up bid prices and getting "commisions" from the vendor....you yourself have indicated that this does/has happened and you refuse to be part of these practices.....if it means that people have to be identified as legitimate bidders then so be it.....:S....I am not an agent ....just an advisor and I let the buyers do their own bidding but tell them at which level to quit.....I also inform them who else may have an interest in the lots I advise on.....and steer him away from potentialy loaded lots....::o...best advice on those who I know are wanted by others is not to bid at all and once the hammer falls on a fair unchased price....let the potential buyer make an offer to get into shares with the purchasing party....;)

I'd be careful, as times are tough and some of these fella's will actually make you pay for the horse they asked you to bid on.....:D
