Flaming Rock was great, but one ride of Karl's that will stick in my memory is when he won the East Cape Guineas a few years ago on Ice Wine. I really don't think the horse stayed 1600m, but Karl held him together and got the job done. Anlother similar scenario was when he won the Cape Fillies Guineas about ten or twelve years ago on Sport's Chestnut, she looked dead in the water to me but somehow he kept her going to win by a nose.
