Well then Titch I think they have been paid too much for way too long and I don't think the public should be helping a Company with ideas to market their product - Just look at this site and you'll see how many good ideas were given to Phumelela - And do they even recognise ABC(or their clients)

Titch i have done my bit to promote racing but unfortunately Phumelela don't actually care what happens to Racing - I have not had a punt with the Tote for a year plus - Do you think anyone called me to ask why I stopped using my account?

GB catching a soccer 10 for R20 is about as likely as catching the lotto...but seeing as it closes at 3 pm they may well try turn the R20 into money by playing a few swingers etc early

Titch do you not think this huge footie 10 carryover will have a negative affect on the local racing turnover on the day? ...

Ah, well, my views -
1) International growth is about a lot more than our local turnover being diverted onto overseas racing..... Our FIRST FOUR races taken overseas by a new customer, recently , resulted in a PROFIT of R700k, from the bets they struck, on our midweek Vaal meeting, which was Televised to them ! Well done to PGL, for initiating and developing International turnover. With the Rand being weak, export is the way to go .....whilst everyone else either sleeps or just whinges....or both.
2) International and soccer bets already make up about half of our Stakes pot.
3) The growth in these two have resulted in our current stakes and in guarantees of, at least, maintaining these Stakes for the next 3 years.
4) The above happens in the midst of worldwide economic woes and right in the midst of huge downturns in local Casinos, Lotto etc.
5) I dont give a damn how much the Shareholders do or dont get. I race horses for Stakes......the highest stakes in the country.
6) I am aware of the problems in Racing, globally. So, I cannot slate PGL. They are probably the only Racing operators, worldwide, showing growth. Who cares if its from Soccer or International ?
And YES, I am in Titch's camp, on this one.

LG - Have you read this whole thread? Your Point 2 and 3 - Without soccer international and limited payout machines (you ommitted this one) stakes may have been there anyway. They only need these items to bring a lower cost on the rand received in order to make the shareholders money. This is the point.
Please take a walk into a nearby tote and see how horseracing punters are pumping there limited cash into the ltd payout machines - Wonderful gift to racing and a lovely reason why SA horseracing is not a profitable business.

@ Rob, I dont dissagree with you at all. Just highlighting the challenges facing Racing, both here and on a Global basis and the benefits of International......and the point that "International " is not so much about our Rands betting on their Racing as it is about our Racing being bet on by International - our International Sales, as such.
@ Alcaponee, again, I cannot disagree with you, but you are now diverting the thread to suit yourself, thus putting words in my mouth.
