I see early money for Taipan for the Vodacom July from opened 66/1 to 50/1 and now 40/1(
Does somebody know something, or is it someone is just trigger happy? Spoke to a very good friend, whom are friends with Karl, he confirms that if weather permits, they will race on Tuesday Night at Greyville, and Taipan takes part in Race 6, coming from a 5 Month Lay Off - :They are just showing Taipan the course", so definetly something must be on, because based on his form, he is a huge runner, Opening at 22/10 i think its a gift!

If they are just "showing the horse the course" that does not sound like any confidence to me! Secondly dean was on telly track the other night with the champions season and he said the horse will be in need of the run. Certainly not taking any 22/10 that's for sure. I'm playing field that leg in my P6.

But it doesn't take a lot of money to go from 66/1 to 40/1. Probably just an enthusiastic connection having a flutter?
If it went from 66/1 to 16/1 - now that would be different.

I would imagine Taipan would be in need of the run but does come in the race with good form. As Bushy say's "just seeing the course" shows no confidence and that the horse will not be pushed. He is running against a strong field espicially the likes of Bay Route who is very gutsy. I think the stable would be delighted with a 3rd or 4th. I make Bay Route a big runner with the appy allowance and think 28/10 is good value here.

Almost 6 Months Lay-Off, First Time under the lights, first time right hand side bend, and a short straight, draw 9, AND A BEAUTIFUL 2ND - TAIPAN, bred for distance, next one should be Daily News 2000, and The Vodacom July will be 3rd run after the rest, you just cant fault this animal (

Wouldn't Bernard have to put up about 4 to 5 kg's overweight to ride him. Always thought Bernard was a heavyweight jockey.
