some other things i have had to hear over the years in my dealings with Phumelela and others,,, pls note that i am not hitting at anyone personally because i know that some of the people who have uttered the words have relayed messages from others,,

" why must we make him rich" ,, Phumelela brass to David Atten on doing something meaningfull with Formgrids

" not a cent" ,, when asking Phum to put an advert on Formgrids

" you must pay for the TT show" ,, the " inform with formgrids" show",,, a show that was agreed to and a pilot tape made

" we can shut you down anytime we want,, all the info belongs to us",, Phumelela legal when we asked for the nomination info to put on Formgrids at the request of the jockey association

" sorry the RA cant afford the 3k amonth advert anymore on Formgrids"

" we wont support you because _ _ _ _ said no " ,, RA

shocking because we service the industry with much needed and well used sites, funded out of our own pockets ,, while the appointed guardians of the racing trust sit on piles of cash,, earmarked for racings good causes,,, a category both sites fall into, dont for one minute think this thread wont get to their ears but listen for the silence

Flash Phumelela are part of the racing trust a body which has an obligation to aid and assist good causes in the industry,, the racing industry belongs to future generations and comes from past generations,,, we, the public, the goverment, and all interested parties have a moral and social obligation to continue the development of the game
Phumelela included

haha Hibernia, also have the same t-shirts worn, torn and discarded. They 'own the copyright on a public event'.....hm.
Phum social responsibility - my foot. They're only looking to maximise divs for shareholders, don't give a damn about stakeholders.
Do they need racing in 20years? yes and no. No because they think that they can have the same turnover using non-tangible betting activities so in actual fact, if there are no live horse races in SAF left, they don't care. Equally you can deliberate the answer as very much yes, because you cannot foster awareness and engagement for horseracing without the live product at hand in order the stimulate wider growth in the market. Yes I agree punters don't need a live product for betting - but there is a market wider than punters.

Be that as it may, Phumelela has never professed their strategy to be anything other than harvesting betting turnover and developing further market share in betting - on any kind of sport, of which horseracing is just one offer. So it is really up to the other bodies in racing such as the RA, to be responsible for social wellbeing, research and development - is that not what their mission statement says.
