Call on race 5 yesterday was ropey as hell. I listened on the phone and then rewound the PVR when I got home to see what the result was. had a completely different picture in mnd. Maybe just a bit ring rusty but Sheldon and Craig hardly choke on a close call on the line.

He is definitely higher up than the PE bloke, but IMVHO would not say the best in SA. Maybe on par.

I NEVER said he was not world class, all I mentioned was being a bit ''ring rusty'' yesterday....:S

I would have loved to hear dumpy on that blanket-finish race.....Hawkeye said "this race was sent to test me" but still did great job imo....he is definitely world class......

I'm no fan of the Peters no sure which is which, I struggle to find my horse when they are calling a race, no colour or horse description mentioned. unless your horse is in the first four forget about identifying it from the call....

Speakng to race 5 - Please lets not fall into the trap of because its different or from a different era its good! Race 5 was a choke on the line, the rest was fine. Ring rusty, thats probably all.

Dumpy also corrected himself after the line. Fact is mistakes happen. Forumites are just applying their thoughts consistantly. I stayed out of the Dumpy one because there was nothing more to say about the topic. I was doing the Citizen Dante victory dance in the lounge. Everyone said what they had to even though Chainsaw asked for us not to comment. "We all make mistakes". There was not too much to add to what was being said. By the same token, on this thread nothing was being said about race 5. Before anyone is glorified to the max surely we should point out the fact that even a "world class commentator" can make a mistake. Be consistant.

I still think that the Peters famly are tops and deserve to be calling the big races over the season. They slave away on all the bread and butter meetings all year round often not even in their own provinces!

I would rather have the top four called than everyhorse including the intractible runner and the ambulance being called over the line.
