Boys and this relatively "small" amount will be the drop in the proverbial bucket when all is revealed one day.........I believe in my heart that the corruption runs into the 10's of billions, if not more.
Suffer the children, the poor and the uninitiated.......
Shame on you SA government!!!

Perhaps, there is some truth in Darwin's Theory of evolution.
Our appointed minister of basic education needs to go back to school to learn the basics of education.....the freedom that comes with education,.
What a bunch of idiots we have in charge of running this country.
For the sake of this country, for every person out there who cares for this country, if you can change one persons view, to distinguish between what we have right now and what it can be, and get that message rippling through the uneducated masses, to understand what power they have in their vote, then this will this will be a powerfully country, irrespective of what race is in charge.

Firstly
have been convinced for a while now that if our nation was better educated the ANC would have ceased to exist a long time ago simply by virtue of them being voted out of power. Unfortunately, the masses are so poorly educated that they have yet to understand the concept of democracy and when the time comes to voting they just go along like lemmings and vote for the same people.
Secondly : with the knowledge that they will be voted into power over and over again, do you think the Minister of Education and the ruling party really give a toss about the masses ? All they can think of is putting their snouts in the trough and gorging themselves on the spoils of the electorate's ignorance. Why doesn't JZ fire the minister ? One reason is that he knows that this latest scandal, in a long line of many past and future scandals, will hardly affect their results at the next polls. As this is a betting forum I challenge anybody out there to bet me a symbolic rand that the ANC will lose Limpopo province in the next elections.
Lastly : I long for the day when accountability and responsibility are the order of the day. Nobody is guilty or responsible anymore, yet when the time comes to make the speeches and get the paycheques and drive the German sedans, eish they are front and centre.

And it just gets better.......:X
Johannesburg - Defence Minister Sam Makhudu Guluybe is in the US to finalise the purchase of a 300-seater R2bn Boeing for President Jacob Zuma, a report said on Friday.
The VIP jet would cost $150m (about R1.26bn) and an extra $80m (about R672.5m) to reconfigure, The Star reported.
Also included in the deal was a Global Express 600 costing $28m (R235m) for the deputy president, bringing the total bill for VVIP transport to $258m (about R2.17bn).
Though negotiated on the basis of Cabinet approval, The Star said it had information that the deal had failed to follow normal requirements that such procurements be put out to competitive tender.
Zuma should use SAA - DA
The Democratic Alliance slammed the deal and said the president should use SA Airways when flying.
"If British Prime Minister David Cameron can use British Airways to fly, then Zuma can fly SAA," said Democratic Alliance defence and military veterans spokesperson David Maynier.
"It is simply wrong to spend R2bn on a presidential jet when so many people in the country are poor. I believe a presidential jet should only be used in exceptional circumstances.
"I hope that delegates at the African National Congress's national policy conference will confront Zuma and ask him how he can spend so much money on a jet that could be used to assist our country with poverty and unemployment."
He said he intended asking Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to investigate whether state spending on the new aircraft for Zuma and the deputy president was warranted.

Me too..... let the Ugandans do the talk!
'Ugandans discuss Mandela' is the topic......
Kipenji,
You asked why he is at "peace" with Gracia? Hmm! I watched a film yesterday where a man was acting exactly the Mandela way. The man was using the language most women would want to hear (I guess)... He used about 700 women in his life - both the married and the singles who were between 16 and 22 years, and kept numbering them as he went along, Nr1...2....3....4........680....
Finally when he realised his "younger brother" was no longer capable of terrorizing ..... he made an about-turn to one of the first ones - (lying between Nr1 and Nr5) simply because she was the only one who was not married by then since her husband had just died.
He eventually spend most of his life with this widow in a boat by asking the boat captain to put up a flag on the boat which would warn that there was a plague in the boat and therefore the boat kept on floating in the water - on and on....
The man had no child, but the woman had, and some of her kids kicked him out of the house......
Gracia was a widow, Mandela at the age of almost 80 yrs comes out and guess what? - those who look for gold know how real gold looks like.... Mandela knew Gracia had no small kids, a responsibility Mandela feared throughout his life........!

Nyar:
First things first.Nelson Mandela was the Publicity Secretary of the ANC.The two leading luminaries were
Walter Sisulu and Giovanni Mbeki (Thabo Mbeki's father).
When Mandela was arrested as being the brain behind the ANC since he is a trained lawyer, these two fellows
too got tortured and with failing health they mellowed down.
Mandela was always being asked to renounce ANC so that he gets his freedom from Robben Island an offer he
turned down because his personal freedom meant nothing to him as long as his people were not free.
Since you are a Christian as I know, remember the quote:"Greater love hath no man than this;that one laid
down his life for the Good of his friends" (John 15:13).
So according to you, which was the ultimate sacrifice? Being thrown in jail for a few years and then released or being
incarcerated for Mandela's length of time? Is there any person you know of who has been behind bars for 27 years
simply because (s)he refused to mortgage the rights and freedoms of her/his people for her/his personal freedom?
Even Aung Suu Kyi does not fit in this bill.So where is the grudge about Mandela's hero status?
The fall out with the myriad of the women you cite could have been because there was never that chemistry that glues
most couples otherwise why does he appear at peace with Gracia?

What would you people want to tell us is good about Mandela fronting his tribesman Zuma the traditional Afrikan to be the president of the only developed country in Afrika - southern sahara and begin to behave like he is a tribal/cultural leader and not a president. Anything funny here?
You are all failing and/or dodging to answer why Mandela was the only one who was never tortured - moreover for all those 27 years....... Even Winnie was arrested and tortured, Steve Mbiko who was the leader of ANC, how did he end up and how did Mandela end up becoming the leader of ANC? Doesn't it tell you that Mandela was already identified as the "friendly" man that could be used to outdo the Stve Mbikos? Learn these people's game man!
Has Mandela himself ever talked of being tortured even once - or has he ever showed any scar or signs of torture

Folks:
My sister NyarOnyango is bitter because she regards Mandela as a woman user.Ofcourse whenever men and women
get married and separate for whatever reasons, the women feel more offended because their opportunities will have been
curtailed by their previous marriages.
If I remember Winnie could have been a Nurse at the time she met the young and very handsome Nelson Mandela but
we should not forget that the reasons for Mandela leaving Winnie had everything to with Winnie herself compare the case
of Engineer Kazibwe and Dr Specioza Naigaga Kazibwe.
On Mandela's hero status, after 27 years of self reflection while cut off from the rest of world because of his convinction about the ills of the apartheid regime, definitely he represented the will of what human spirits are endowed with and he welcome those who denied him his most productive years in life.
This selfless commitment to the common good of humanity does make him a hero.Ofcourse Winnie used his name to make the world aware of what was happening in South Africa. The only shortfall for her is that she did not know when to stop.
Those who think Mandela is a sell out have failed to capture what is needed for them to get what they consider true
independence i.e they need to have the requisite skills needed to manage what they accuse the white folks of denying them.Being violent without the proper training to take over all whatever they yearn for will only help sink South Africa into another failed state like most independent African countries are.

As a nation, Uganda has never had a rallying figure that comes within 100 miles of Mandela. No Ugandan leader has undergone the furnance test as Mandela and company. We've had it easy all through Independence. And since 1962, we've been cursed with a bunch of mediocre, selfish opportunists who pale in comparison with Mandela.
It's therefore safe to argue that some Ugandans don't see how instrumental and transformational Mandela has been on the world scene, let alone South Africa.

Nyar;
Mandela is a Hero not because he led a saintly life, or even a model husband life, but because he risked his life to dramatize the evil of apartheid. He epitomized everything that was wrong with the white minority rule, and paid dearly for his gallantry.
In the eyes of millions around the globe, he stood for what was possible in South Africa and what SA should be: a united nation under free rule. He did not disappoint, for he ushered in an era of reconcilliation that has surprised even his most hardened critics.
Just for avoiding a retributory outrage against his jailers, Mandela has come close to being the most perfect political beacon that the world has ever seen.

It is ONLY in your imagination that South Afrika has healed.
Two, do you how Mandela met Winnie, and what Winnie was at that time?
Three, do you know that by the time he met Winnie, he had already treated two other women exactly the same way he treated Winnie? Winnie's case is a third official divorce by Mandela - all dumped and or abaondoned with kids.......!

Ms Nyar:
Well, Mr Mandela is our hero. He is mine for sure. Yes Winie Mandela did a lot more, and has the pulse of the masses, but she made some mistakes like all humans do. She was lucluy to have married Mr madela, was she not? Where do you think she got her credibility from? Is it not from the Mandela name?
Let me say this , it was ONLY Mr Mandela who made it possible to have black majority rule in Suth Africa. Call him whatever you want but, he had the termperament and judgment to help South Africa heal. Of course it has not healed but he ushered in majority rule. That alone makes him a great hero.
The problem with you is that you do not value compromise-hmm see UPC chaos-. Yet compromise is key. The spirit of give and take is what has failed most post colonial African states. I am sure you have your hero or heros, so name them.
Under the circumstances, Mr Mandela did great. They got rid of Mr Mbeki and got Mr Jacob Zuma. Now some are trying to get rid of him. Nope. The Zulu mobs will butcher them in hundreds if not thousands.
So tell us about your hero or heros and we compare them with Mr Mandela.

Stompie was killed by Jerry Richardson, an undercover black apartheid policeman.
All the other ANCs in exile had sold out. Winnie was the vanguard of the internal struggle.

Winnie made a couple of mistakes.
She continued her affair with some young guy/Gigolo I think if i remember well. .ie. after after Mandela came out of Jail. This did not go down well with Mandela and other elders in the ANC.
Also out of ignorance I think she was involved in a credit card scandal.
Then some friends told me that she was back biting Mbeki. Thats why at one time he pushed her away when she tried to hug him. Every body saw this on TV and in the stadium however some of my friends say she was telling the truth. i.e. Mbu Mbeki and his cronies like young chicks.
Elders within the ANC were not pleased with her apparently.
But she still has so much power i.e within the Masses. When she talks they listen. I think Its just that Its a Man's world in SA that the elders always manage to tell to "Keep quiet and be a Woman"
Anway and when she talks she calls a spade a spade.
Going back to Mandela . Then Graca Machel cruises in with all Kiganda manners (kneels down) does the Mozambican woman thing or "bedminton" (Mozambican women are terrorists in bed and know how to cook). Mandela was conquered and Graca became the first woman to be First lady to two countries in the whole world. Since Cleopatra or?

People should read the book "Battle for the soul of the ANC"

The league's president, Amukelani Ngobeni, said in a statement that Mandela would not have peace should he die without apologising for "selling out black people's struggle through the secret talks with the apartheid government".
Ngobeni said Mandela entered into secret talks and agreed on a compromised constitution which today makes it very difficult, or almost impossible, for government to deliver in its duties to service the citizens.
He said they were following with interest developments around Mandela's health, saying: "Many of his friends did not get an opportunity to apologise before they died, and he must consider himself lucky and use the opportunity for his soul to rest peacefully before it is too late".
He added: "Mandela and his friends were excited and could not wait to occupy the global political space at the expense of the struggle for complete political, social and economic emancipation."
Nelson Mandela Foundation spokesman Sello Hatang said Mandela had always maintained "that he was always acting as part of the collective".
He added it would be best for the ANC to comment on Ngobeni's statement.
However, ANC spokesman Keith Khoza said his organisation would not dignify the statement with a comment.

Kipenji,
You asked why he is at "peace" with Gracia?

I think Its just that Its a Man's world in SA that the elders always manage to tell to "Keep quiet and be a Woman" Anway and when she talks she calls a spade a spade. On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 3:05 PM, Joseph Kamugisha wrote:

I think I read somewhere that there are 3 million whites ( Boers and others) in S.Africa, compared to over 40 million blacks
That would make it about 7.5%. But I will also check my facts.

They had to dislodge the Boer vested interests then other wise they would be more entrenched.
It was the Joe Slovo's and the Kathrada's of the world who could see the folly in the details.

Moses I think you wanted to say 2% instead of 12%. People should read the book "Battle for the soul of the ANC" Some one told me that maybe some of the Ugandan Ministers of Energy & Minerals are taken to the same place where Mandela was taken i.e some place in Kimberely.

I would very much like to read about his failure to provide for his kids from the myriad of women you allege he used.
Lastly there are always many angles to why some marriages do not work out and others even in palpable poverty thrives.

Kipenji,
You asked why he is at "peace" with Gracia?

Being thrown in jail for a few years and then released or beingincarcerated for Mandela's length of time? Is there any person you know of who has been behind bars for 27 years simply because (s)he refused to mortgage the rights and freedoms of her/his people for her/his personal freedom?Even Aung Suu Kyi does not fit in this bill.So where is the grudge about Mandela's hero status? The fall out with the myriad of the women you cite could have been because there was never that chemistry that gluesmost couples otherwise why does he appear at peace with Gracia?Kipenji

Folks:My sister NyarOnyango is bitter because she regards Mandela as a woman user.Ofcourse whenever men and women get married and separate for whatever reasons, the women feel more offended because their opportunities will have beencurtailed by their previous marriages. If I remember Winnie could have been a Nurse at the time she met the young and very handsome Nelson Mandela butwe should not forget that the reasons for Mandela leaving Winnie had everything to with Winnie herself compare the caseof Engineer Kazibwe and Dr Specioza Naigaga Kazibwe. Those who think Mandela is a sell out have failed to capture what is needed for them to get what they consider true independence i.e they need to have the requisite skills needed to manage what they accuse the white folks of denying them.Being violent without the proper training to take over all whatever they yearn for will only help sink South Africa into another failed state like most independent African countries are.Kipenji

Nyar; Mandela is a Hero not because he led a saintly life, or even a model husband life, but because he risked his life to dramatize the evil of apartheid. Pojim
