Formgrids South Africa shuts down today

this is fcking ridiculous, i agree fully with those that say if Mr A needs money to run formgrids he SHOULD charge for it. Some of us have based our entire game on formgrids for it to be shutdown overnight ????? i guess that's what happens when you depend one a one man business!!!!
so they will be able to continue publishing overseas cards, for who and how they fund that???? i say fucking ridiculous i will never use that site again even if they come back

Titch I don't understand less work load as there are more meetings in the UK to capture than in SA.I think he should close it down and let's see what it does to TAB turnover as I know already of 6 people turning up the game if it shuts down.The % of turnover of UK racing is miniscual in comparison to SA so why concentrate on the UK i think there is an underlying current here on davids part.

greg that is 100 per cent my friend, this is the free market let the punter decide where he does have a bet. the same with formgids, let david charge for his service, those that want to pay can pay, those that dont buy the race card. simple as that

the punter has a sickness that can only be cured by the punt!!! this non sense people will stop because of formgrids close is the same as saying people stop screwing because of the aids..... you are all dreaming if you think people give up the game because of formgrids or any thing else

BUT you forgetting that there are more competitors to horseracing now Flash, with sports betting etc...so yes I agree with the addiction a punter has, but then surely if the operator wanted the sport of kings to survive they need the punter and therefore would offer the best tools available...

Formgrids has never been a "commercial" enterprise or there would have been a subscription years ago..Dave tried to cover majority of the costs with advertising and was prepared to subsidies the site in order to keep it a free service but when the subsidy got too much he asked for assistance and got zero...the assistance requested was not so much a financial one but for instance we asked for direct feeds from the "run ons" so as to alleviate the work load and having to employ an additional data capturer to manually upload the results that and many other requests that cost NOTHING but would aide to expedite the uploading process have continually been denied and left him with no option but to close down the operation..

Let me tell u flash I'm out as I don't have the time to study if u read my earlier post.I'm off to the Gold Cup then that's me and I might start my own site

Should the operators not at least try help those 'addicts" as you say by giving them something that could at least give them more than a thumb suck choice?

JD we haven’t made this a personal issue as yet,, there are other reasons for the SA shutdown,, from the outset we deliberately left Formgrids free to the racing world,, we know people will pay,, we don’t want hand-outs,, we are doing our part in assisting racing in trying times globally,, this is a duty of the racing operators,,, and this is not just my sentiments but the sentiments of the entire racing world,,, this site helps racegoers, and provides a vital service to all sectors of the industry,,, of that there is no doubt, If in eight years we survived without help we can continue but the indifference and refusal from racing structures to join us in a venture for the good of racing is disturbing,, also not allowing us to present SA at the Asian Racing Conference was the final straw for me,, the operators lack of concern for the internet users must be exposed and this is one way,, if I don’t make a stand who will,, do you know that not one word was spoken at the Asian Racing Conference by a South African,, and we are supposed to be a leading racing nation,,, this is not just about me it’s about racing

Flash Harry none of us want anyone to give up the game,, for eight long years we have helped people understand and enter the game

Lets also not forget that trainers, jockeys and even breeders used formgrids as well, so its not just a punters tool....
