yes i'm sure but do they co-mingle with us? I have no idea how it works - what currency is used to bet with there and what are the sizes of their pools?

From other thread

The thread has gone slightly off topic, however I have also been thinking of Zim racing?
They have a country run by a mad man and the currency is one of the weakest on the planet, the majority can't buy bread?
We (Tellytrack/phum) have trips planned to promote how great racing is and that you get paid in USD ?

Yesterdays stakes in Zim were USD 35 000 ( approx ZAR 300 000 ) . All bets are comingled with South Africa. They cover the same racing as SA do through out the week . They have many tote outlets around the country and gambling on horse racing is widespread among the local population. I am sure they contribute towards the running costs of the NHRA.

If we had to endure the trials and tribulations that Zim has endured I doubt very much that racing in SA would have survived, the fact that they have kept racing alive shows their mettle ..they should be applauded
