NO

sporting/finacial/proffesional achievement/milestone can compare to the birth of a child or indeed a family berivement/award.

Society is already broken, "role" models need to be exactly that and there is no greater opportunity to be a role model than as a parent.

Chad knows and respects the sacrifice that Bert and Geraldine had to make to get him to where he is now... I think the decision was a no brainer, family first and foremost

gg,

i have made enough enemies on this forum to last a lifetime....

for me recent events in the USA and in the UK (where i reside) leaves me to believe that society is broken. This is just my opinion, there are enough single parent households in the UK , there are enough "kids" wanting their 15 minute of fame however they get it.

YOU gg have at least 5 friends that think its socially accepted to drink and drive (i do too as most saffas do) that is an indication of a broken society.

The hillsborough memorial single was released today and the orginisors are fighting for the VAT to be exempted from sales YET the VAT has been exempted from the X Factor xmas single, another indication of a broken society

A soldier was arrested for having a "gift" weapon in his possesion and it took a huge public movement to have him exhonorated......anyways imvho society is rotten. I am a part of that society and all i can do is try to be a bit more socially active

All the way. Your team mates, friends, fans even and country can turn against you (Arsene Wenger, Armstrong, Cronje etc???), but your family stick with through the good and bad times.

Full stop.

My parents would not have expected or let me let everyone down. My opinion only and not changing my mind. Without Chad and his team mates, swimming and fame, who would Bert have been? He turned his back on the sport and people that put Bert there in the 1st place. Not having a go at Bert but like Graeme Smith flying to Ireland to see his Girlfriend above coming home with the team. Wrong!

If the public were to vote on whether Chad did the right thing or not, it will probably be a tie...or a marginal win in either direction.

Chad chose to support his dad on this one day (possibly one of the biggest days in Bert's life), probably in acknowledgement of the years of support and sacrifice that his dad has given to him.

The least the public can do for him is support his decision now. After all, he made us extremely proud South Africans when he defeated the mighty Michael Phelps.
