Nah, not the nth time. At some point it's not everyone else's fault. There was no earthquake or tsunami, the show can't stop because it depends on a single bus, I don't care who points fingers at who. Not the first time, or the 2nd, or .....
By the way, when someone says heads should roll, it's not some clerk somewhere...it should be the minister in charge. Maybe we can find someone who can ALWAYS find a bus. Sometimes we call that a plan B.

@ Ziets - some further info -
1) The Bus company is STABUS - owned by Global.
2) AFTER the debacle with the lights of a few weeks ago and in spite of them having confirmed the schedule for this month, Leonard Scriven, PGL's transport manager was in contact with these people throughout last week - all was in order and on Friday, all was good. This morning they dont pitch !
3) PGL will sue, also on behalf of travelling horses etc.
4) Monday turnovers must be considered versus costs - The bus costs about R16k. A flight Charter would be around R50k.
5) The exercise has been done , in terms of buying own busses - just not viable.

Truth is that there are many simple "plan B's", Jack. Point is that these are not economically viable - one must consider the fact that Kimberley is not self sustaining, which creates it having to depend on migration of essential staff, come Raceday and that the cost of sales would be hugely increased with implementation of alternatives or full time staff.
It's a nightmare !

How can anyone defend the authorities on this debacle. If the bus is due at 5 am and isn't there does nobody phone the bus company or it's directors and organize or do they all sit around untill 8 and then decide what to do. If there is a transport manager why at 5-30 or 6 did they not just contact a hire co and organize another bus and then deal with Stabus.? I cannot believe what an incompetent bunch of people run this industry. And of course nothing will be said on these forums. The villages are empty the idiots are all at Phumelela.

Thanks Louis.
As a spectator from far away, the "bus" problem has gotten tired. We are all big people and it seems impossible that a big company can have the show come to a standstill with a RECURRING problem like this. And a low tech problem at that.
P are at the point where maybe the directors had to pitch in their own cars as a last resort with 4 passengers each. Of course I'm joking. Maybe it's time to just face the fact that we just cant do it...it's beyond us. There must be loads of other sports which get cancelled repeatedly (!) because the staff don't pitch up to away games.
For the record, what is the count for stoppage due to bus now?
