Race 3 Clairwood?

If Fly first class wins would it have been a non runner? Even better could the second horse have objected against it if it won?

would they have scratched it, if it ran second or third? Or was the choice made easy cause the second fav ran unplaced?

I just want to make sure I am getting this right. If FFC won he would have kept the race, if he lost he would be scratched. So you basically have a free bet on FFC and stuck with a loss or 60% deduction if your horse wins.
Surely regardless of the result if it is the norm to scratch if the gate opens slowly or gives the horse a disadvantage the horse should be scratched regardless of where they run. :S

100%, its a complete disgrace! They would never have had the guts to scratch it if it ran 3rd considering that it would have blown everyone out the p.a.

Too many rules have very "GREY" areas, this one pertaining to gates opening slowly and then depending if the horse wins or places, a decision is made based on its finishing position. Also interference of a runner, where you can only object if you could have beaten the horse who hampers you. It, like the starting pens rule allows a stipe to make a decision if HE feels fit or believes it could have beaten the other horse. In this game and any other sport, there should never be "GREY" areas. All parties concerned in racing need to continue to voice their frustration in the running of this game.

Rules are rules and the starting gate rules are concidered "rub of the green"......we can be thankful that those who had backed the horse for modern technoligy and that TT were replaying the incident.....those KZN stipes are worse than the 3 blind mice at the best of times and had it not been televised live may have never have concidred replaying the film themselves.....a race reveiw was only phoned through during the interview but should have been spotted before the horses crossed the finishing line....a worse scenario could have been that the start was decleared false and the whole field would have been pulled up an reloaded....those that went out of the PA I feel for you.... as I had a guy ask me to guide him in his PA selections I told him to add the 11 just in case as I did not like the way the fav went to the post....
something to do with those booties that it was wearing.....:S....he said he only takes straight lines....greedy f@cker.....

Flaunt you have got it completely wrong...win or loose the horse would have been declared a non runner..

you are completely clueless if you believe that, the rule states quite clearly that if a horse is impeded at the start by a handler or by any malfunctioning of the starting the starting stalls it shall be deemed a non runner IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT PLACING IT ACHIEVES...why not check the rules before you make stupid statements ...

Sorry Titch I disagree with you....the rules may state that, however there have been a few occasions where a fancied horse has been hampered at the start (by the gate and/or handler) , and won....and no one lodges a complaint and the horse has kept the race. So do you believe if the fav. won race 3 they would have declared it a non runner.....they would have said it never gained an advantage so therefore it should keep the race
