The Daily Racing Thread
12 years 7 months ago
I'm interested to know what the clanners really use this thread for. Do people use it just for banter? Do those who view it but rarely or never contribute do so for information or just a read? Does anyone take real notice of what other clanners select? Do they investigate them and/or use them? Or do they merely pass over them and always use their own selections? Or do they follow others blindly some of the time? I'd just like to know what people really think of it, part of the reason is of course personal as I do post a lot there but I'm also interested concerning the thread as a whole. I'd really like it if you could comment on this here rather than just read and move on, it might benefit many and help them and/or help them help others etc.

The forum name African Betting Clan says it all.
We all love racing and we all love money. So I guess most of us are here are for information and tips.
We love to engage in banter and to discuss issues pertaining to racing (good and bad).
I have made many friends on the site. The first being Gregbucks and Magi way back in 2008.
A great site , people with immense knowledge that have been racing since the early 1960's.

Thanks Agra and I agree whole-heartedly... but
I am specifically asking on the one daily thread based on the meeting(s) each day... such as Arlington today, Turfs tomorrow etc (disappointing 12 views and no comments before you, not unexpected though!
)

i do read the selections but due to time constraints i know we often do not give reasons for our picks - the justification of selection is the real gem as everyone misses something no matter how hard you study. you can always learn something - The only thing I bin is the "I heard about a horse" line as there are normally 11 talking horses in a 10 runner event .

I for one...don't know how to use all the fandangled bits on this site, still discover new things daily. e.g, cleaned the browser cache and "lost" the flags and my password:Syeah cumb dunt
I check to see who posts as much as what they tip...Each poster has their own idiosyncrasy that they bring to this site, which I enjoy. (except gregbucks, he has idiotsyncrasy)
The daily thread provides the most neutral topic and therefore I feel that people are more likely to "take a chance" and post. I think our average age must be geriatric and therefore we refresh and re-read the post..."did Flash really say that...{snotklap and all}the rantings of a mad Magi...."
I take the above posters names in vain, because I feel that they are not offended as easily as some and understand from whence I come....

I havent posted for a while. Stopped racing for year or so, but I liked the opinion and info that I got from the site. Liked sharing what I gott from my meocre informants!!:X
I cam eback to racing as I missed it, OH and the making of couple bucks. Liked to bet bigger than normal but saw my ass on some bad info, now just punting smaller.
I bought a coupl of horses again s like owning stuff that can F... me up!! I have some nice horses, I Hope, and will share as they run. One specific is " Sage of Savanna". Andrew came by last night and he reckons we could easilly see 3-4 winners in a row from now on. Well for those that like Manna for his judgement and not anything else, use it, abuse it...!
Like reading all the post again, some whit never chnge!!

Sage of Sivana nicely bred and looks to have a bright future, just wish he had won 2 runs back when the draw did him in

Give everything but up!

Yeh, also picked up small problem. Over that know!! Working like a steam train, just a shit load faster. Matured nicely into distance. Have a full go from 1st run back! I am going to!!
Also have nice Greys Inn. Start running this season. If he runs like he works we are making Tenero!

I read the daily thread for enjoyment and to see what others like on the day. I don't have racing buddies at the office and my wench is just so NOT interested in racing .... so I use the forum for the banter and exchange of opinions. I very seldom follow others calls, except if I have the time to go check what I may have missed... or if I am struggling with a particular race. Generally there are too many horses tipped (or selected) per race.....
I watch Mr Hawaii's place calls as he is very often on the mark.... {thinks}..Oh yes, I forgot..{snotklap tp Pirhobeta's head for using my vain name}....(
... and also some posters are in obvious form and I then would include some of theirs ...two weeks or so ago... PotLuck was calling them home, Englander is in good form at present.... Zietsman had a really decent spell a month or so ago.. and too many others to mention... and of course Gregbucks sharp chirps...he used to be a half decent tipster.. (tu)
