A lot has been said about the state of affairs and how we got to this point. We can no longer bury our heads in the sand, pretending not to know the implications of what is happening. This phase requires that we elevate our way of thinking in order to lay the foundation for the reconstruction of this industry.

Pettiness and egotistical bickering is what will stand in the way of achieving great things for South African industry. This moment calls for every South African interested in horse racing to have a say in the direction horse racing needs to be taking.

Let's focus on ideas irrespective of where they come from.

What does it matter who nailed the last nail in the coffin, or rocked the boat so it capsized. It's time for change, for the better. If we cannot afford honourable men, lest we can afford an honourable system to regulate those who cannot help themselves.

ain't life funny - racing may just be righted for the wrong reason!

ironic innit? perhaps in this case two wrongs will = a right! think about it:S

as the title of this discussion says - are we ready for what is to come? what is the scenario in each case? a) merger disallowed or b) merger allowed - each has severe disadvantages and challenges, but in the long run, and for the better of the industry as a whole - which is the better ? (can we afford to say 'the lesser evil' anymore - I don't think so, have run out of time)

AND will we have the right people in place to manage it, or to put in the right control systems? (not manage it down into the ground, again). as it stands now, the whole lot at the top should commit hare kiri, and the rest had better rally around and find honourable men amongst themselves and put together some kind of strategy and rescue plan that will pull racing out of its misery - move it into the 21st century and 'get with the program!'
the strategy is and has been completely misdirected. Oh hang on, there is no 'the' strategy. There is a strategy-Phum, and a strategy GC...a left and a right hand, and not connected to the same body.
