Alvin August not needed... (td)
12 years 7 months ago
After returning to work with a month off due to a broken Arm Alvin August(one of the very few Bee candidates) has been told by the Dynamic Duo Rod and Ken that he doesn`t cut it and he`s not presenting anymore..
They say he`s not very popular? from feed back recieved..
Fuck me he may not be the best but he`s fucking better than Rod
Five years he has been presenting in Kimberley
Tellytrack towers are rocking..

Heartbroken for Alvin, his very cut up about it. His a character which the game needs and loves it. Nobody can accuse his homework or knowing the game. Personally I will miss our " Giggler ".

Really, Tellytrack has got worse since this Kiwi has taken charge and how the Aussie can tip before 2cents is just laughable...

This is terrible news. Alvin did a good job in Kimberley. He was quite jovial. Racing and TT in particular has not really embraced its consituency. I always thought that they should sometimes be more innovative. I know in soccer they have mascots for teams...why dont they have a colourful character who can appeal to the 'mass' of tote punters... a sort of black McCirick. That would have more an impact than the boring staid presenters on USB excluding chainsaw. We need some excitement and colour to our screens guys...this is not the UK or Aus where you have a population born and brought up with horses, who know about breeding and the sport of kings. This is SA, wher people want to make a quick buck and competition with other palyers is tough.
The current management at TT is anything but innovative. I think Alvin will do better away from TT. Its sad but I guess others will be worried too.

if ever tellytrack or phumelela need a survey..no need for them to employ anyone to go into the field ..put the question on this forum...and they will get a fair reflection of what all the punters in sa want....we have such a diverse forum that includes all facets of racing...from trainers,to jocks, owners, breeders, mega punters,R5 punters...all knowledgable in their own right and all in the game because they like it.
we have our differences between forumites, but thats what we want...no biases...i really think that the answers to all their woes lie in us...
but i am really keen to know how they reached their verdict.
this is nepotism and jobs for pals at its height
