Bushy, i use to go to the Claremont tote almost every day. I use to work over the road in the new PicknPay building on the 4th floor. Haven't been there for about 2 years now as i have moved jobs, but sad to hear the BW closed down there, but not really surprised. The tote there is not that great either and the toilets terrible!

@E, yes privately owned and the results is there to be seen to all, much better service and punting experience overall...this is what racing needs more of, and especially in Cape Town the lack of privately run bookies is what makes the cape punting experience sh1t to say the least.

@PeeKay, i totally agree, i would be very surprised if they are there as a tote for much longer. I do however hear that they bringing in a Marshalls there, but that will just be for the fixed bet from what i gather. My worse thing about Claremont is the fact that they actually do not give a rats #$% when its time for P6, JP, PA etc at the major venue, and so you have 3 people employed that day, but when it comes to the start of important exotic legs, there's one person available for the 15/20 odd people trying to get bets on in the last minute or two. There's no will to try and accommodate customers when betting demand is at its highest, when exotics need to be put on. Added with this, when there is night racing, their policy is to close no earlier than when the JP leg of night racing begins, but the amount of times i go down to even get a PA on and they are closed, since there is no one there. If you advertise your operating hours (which in fact is determined by management high up and not by those running that specific tote), the people working there should not have any authority to decide when they would like to go home. Have you ever walked into a PnP, Woolies etc earlier than their advertised closing time, only to see that all the staff has gone home and closed up shop for the day? That's because they'd all be given the boot if they had to do so, because they have competitors which they cant lose customers to, as for GC/P...i rest my case

@Bushy - did u ever experience (like i said i was there about a year and a half ago) the BW was always off line or cannot connect? This would cheese me off a lot.......then they would be "off" for like a solid week. When finally someone came around to fix the problem i saw technicians working outside. Those wires were all over the place and looked like they were 30 years old!
