Betting world what a joke
12 years 6 months ago
Went to betting world to take a bet today, the lady serving me went on to the race I wanted to play, the horse was 4/1 ,I told her to give me R20 000 / 5000, she phones her head office to tell them if she can lay the bet, the prick in the office asks her what race and horse,he tells her no she can't lay 4/1 even thou it shows us on her terminal its 4/1. He tells her she can only give me 3/1 ,what a joke then he tells her give him R10 000 / 2500 that's all he can have. I think this is a disgrace that they do that to customers ,they are only interested in making money ,nothing for the punter ,not even the price they offering disgrace to betting world.

I've been getting the same treatment for years. It used to wind me up no end.
I have just had an account with a UK bookmaker restricted to winning £10 max on each selection.if the horse is 50/1,they let
me stake 20 pence.Ive had this account for one week and its in a girls name(no flower jokes please).
They are a big company and employ thousands of staff.Ive withdrawn my funds and now I'm probably going to stop punting
on horse racing unless I go to the track.

the clerks that work for bettingworld (kenilworth especially), have an attitude of being far far above their job title...the amount of times they sit there talking to one another and whilst you and others are trying to get bets on, we(as the customer) is being asked to "wait" while they finish their private conversation?
then if you give them a bet, get the ticket back, and it is incorrect, and you ask them to fix it, they argue with you to the end of the world about how they heard you correctly and you gave them the wrong information, they will never change a bet for you, or if they do agree to it, the race has already begun by that stage anyway.
another issue i have repeatedly is that of updated betting sheets, when approaching someone behind the desk asking for an "updated" betting sheet, (lets say at 3pm) i get the printed out sheets from 11am, then if one asks for an updated one, there is no response of ease in trying to make the customer feel appreciated by printing a updated sheet for them, in order to do business...they just sit there and refuse as if their job title is to punch through bets in the computer and not to do printing.
i suppose this can go for the whole of P and GC...as we all have ranted on and on about, it really is diabolical the kind of service that is offered...as a website i have found it to be great, user friendly, and very convenient, but the hands on dealings with employers in totes is actually a joke, to say the least

@davetheflower:
'and now I'm probably going to stop punting

Yes, me too.....also getting there!
I am not happy that the people doing business (bookies and operator) give a shit for us as customers / punters; only want to make money. The disappearance of Bookies sa is a case in point (under another thread)! The vacillitating / inexplicable tote dividends, obvious race rigging to ensure PA / JP upsets, no investigations / explanations, watered down / omitted stipes reports when it affects certain owners/stables, unbelievable hypocrisy, personal vendettas, horseracing ownership is the personal territory of a handful of ultra-rich elitist clique who dictate directly or via their 'sycophants' (trainers especially), etc.......
Now, just got an email from my trainer the other day that the horse which I had a share in (fancied because of its breeding and my partiality to the bloodline, paid in for past few months) is no longer available in the syndicate!I must choose from another bunch of 2-3 horses.......any better than a lottery?
WTF?
I decided to get back slowly into ownership after my despicable fiasco in a partnership (which was termed a BEE grouping.....not by me!) last year (in fact, I convinced an extremely wealthy business friend / family member to come in with me and buy about 10-20 horses), now this?
We punters are the milking cow and just useless plain mugs that even a mug heat press will refuse to stick an image on us, forget anyone wanting to give us a warm cuppa for patronage!
:X
