Like I said, Tara has just been through a strike, it commenced on Wednesday morning at 6am, we have survived, we are both a bit battered and bruised, and feel like we could sleep for a week. It is in times like this that one finds out whom their true friends are in life.....
Tara would like to point out three people above her fellow colleagues and friends to whom she owes her heartfelt gratitude to, namely JUAN NEL (Snaith Racing), JACQUES STRYDOM and MRS. STEPHANIE MILLER.
Without these people's extra efforts and support I believe Tara would of lost the spring in her step, it is hard enough physically and mentally to cope with a situation like this for any MALE human being and, Tara has worked the equivalent to 18 male staff members since Wednesday until this morning basically on her own with myself.
The trainers of South Africa need to stand together, and become one force.

@sly:

'...replace students...'

They'll come to work with guns and knives and give the horses umkoo, besides raping & impregnating the fillies!

Not sure what you mean. I guess give them leave on a rotational basis.

@hibernia:

If trainers can be called to stand together as one force (@Gavinv), why not grooms..... and punters?

From what I understand, this is an appeal to grooms to join the Association (very loose!).

Phumelela (which indicated at the CC hearing that the welfare of grooms is not their concern as they are private employees of trainers), has apparently approached some grooms to launch a Grooms' Association; this is seen as divide and rule and interference.

Grooms are requested to approach their trainers (employers) to explain to them the Association; not a trade union! There is no call for a strike whatsoever.

There is nothing untoward and finds its fit in freedom of association and expression. At the CC much was made about various organisations within the industry.... there is no Grooms (or Punters') Association.

The gist and mission of the Association has been explained to a leading trainer (who pays his grooms well and puts their welfare first) who calls for closer ties between trainers and grooms for the sake of the industry. Mention has been made of a trainer who pays his grooms R500 every fortnight.

A trainer at the Vaal is allegedly running a smear campaign against the Chairman, Mr Simoto (like what John Freeman did).

My take is that there are some trainers who are shit-scared that their grooms will start 'talking' and Szu will write it!

Whatever, definitely no call for a strike!
