@FH:
'the story here is the rumour is the grooms will try diss rupt the summer cup '
If that's true, then makhulu problems! Simoto is not aware of it and has no intention (or even intende to) call for a strike.
As I said, Gavinv must tell us why the grooms went on strike at Lara's place.
Low / not enough wages is always an automatic grouse. I've been told of a trainer who pays his grooms as and when; sometimes after 3 weeks!
Whatever, the trainers must get together with grooms via a vehicle and sort it out amicably. Here, we fighting the operators, then the bookies, then the NHA, now grooms, etc. Where are we getting by not engaging with one another?
There must be other influences / reasons (maybe local) and the fact that there is no way of knowing because of the absence of structure/s / lines of communication with the grooms via any vehicle, that's a serious state of affairs.
Not only our Government, but also the horseracing industry, has no credible leadership!
We must commend those trainers who have open lines with grooms and have nothing to fear from such threats; in fact, are not threatened.

To blast workers and go as to say they knew what they go themselves into is not best way to deal to with your labour issues.These vital people handle millions of rands worth of horses and as such are due some sort adequate remuneration.If trainers are happy with picture of their grooms being the way they are then let it be.Its saddening to see grooms with torn clothes handling a million dollar horse.Im not naive to say that trainers are having their way but theres a wrong that needs to be righted.With the history of violence that has seen in South Africa this year the last thing racing needs is violence in the farms.
