Totally senseless and tragic, especially when the gunman killed his own mother as the 28th victim, others being 18 little children between 5 and 10 trs old and 6 teachers and including the headmaster. What was that about the land of the free???
Looking at this report, I quote " Deadly shootings are a frequent occurence in US public places, often ending only if the gunman is shot or takes his own life. On Tuesday, a man with a semi-automatic rifle raked an Oregon shopping mall, killing 2 people then taking his own life."
'In the most notorious incident until now a 24yr old, James Holmes allegedly killed 12 people and wounded 58 others when he opened fire in a midnite screening of the latest Batman movie in Aurora , Colorado in July 2012."
The school tragedy reduced the President Barack Obama to tears and The Queen of England sent a message to the President saying how shocked and saddened she was.

Greg, two things........Well actually three.
1) I feel terrible because of this event, it is absolutely sickening what some warped minds can do. So sorry for the family and friends of all the victims and also the town that this will surely affect for a long time to come.
2) I don't think it happens more in the US, it is statistically just that America is a very large nation with a large number of people, stands to reason that it would seem to happen more there. Apparently, and I have no way to corroborate this but a kid in china stabbed 21 kids to death a short while ago?
3) There was, what I can only describe as a CHOP on CNN (from America) blamed the whole thing on the fact that the individual states don't have enough money to identify the pathologically ill people and that is why these things keep happening. Also that the ill should not be blamed for their actions because of the governments shortfalls........
I had to turn the TV off because I was getting HOT!!! Luckily I am in Korea so there was no chance of me marching to this mans house and putting my hand up his a#$ and operating him like a puppet!
The issue here are the guns imo. No way that is going to go away though......those conservatives sitting in the deep south holding a bible in the one hand and a gun in the other will as soon rise up and start another Civil war type event before getting rid of the guns.
The whole country is inherently sick with a lot of work to be done but I don't think America is much or any worse than other large countries in the world.

Must agree Tommy.
You can buy a gun at a store where they vet you,but if you go to a gun show you only need proof of age.
Add to that the majority of yanks are as thick as a brick, then you have major problems.
I was living out there for 2 years and couldn't wait to get back.
Terrible for those poor kids and their families.
I hope Charlton Heston is happy now.

I'm not sure if it's guns that are the problem as guns have been the core of the USA since its birth - more likely disfunction at home - It is very difficult to find a kid born bad far easier to find one Made bad by a failed family.

Without wanting to be controversial or get under anyone's skin, when things like this take happen, i always ask does a Supreme Being exist? If so, why doesn't this Supreme Being have this cold hearted sod killed whilst on their way to carrying out their evil deeds, preferably by a fully loaded 18 wheeler. Loss of life under these conditions is not acceptable, the majority killed were aged between 5 and 10 years old, what did they do to deserve this?
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

i don't have a gun nor support gun owners but if you think there are over 200 million privately owned guns in the USA then there should be way more killings. More likely disintrested parents that foster lunacy. The gun/knife/poison is just a tool they use to express their madness. Too much prozac therapy and too little parental guidance makes Jack a mad boy!!

To be honest, i shed a tear when they explained the gut wrentching wails from the parents who were told their kids did not make, this is beyond sad and comprehension.

The early reports are that this dude, as well as the Aurora movie theater killings were relatively "normal" (described by their friends and families) people and they would never have thought this possible from them. Also their home lives seem to be ok too......very strange to say the least.
